Because of my stupid colonoscopy prep, all I could eat personally was the prosciutto and burrata, the chitarra (cacio e pepe), and tiramisu. It was all... "ok". About the only thing that anyone actually raved about was the ricotta crostini antipasti.

It was decent Italian food, but nothing worth driving to LA and paying that kind of price for. The food didn't live remotely up to the level of pretentiousness all around.
Man I don't remember prosciutto being on the colonoscopy prep list. I need a better doctor

My stone crab and hogfish were great, and cost less than a plate of pasta (and my meal cost a lot more to produce).

It's more about what I can't eat than what he wants me to eat lol. Anything with seeds, any nuts, anything leafy. Meaning anything with tomato or leafy herbs (basil) is out. Great time to go to an Italian restaurant, huh?

I think it's still too early that I have to worry about the color of food, but I chose not to eat any of the calamari b/c it has squid ink in the batter... <cough>pretentious</cough> I don't want to explain a purple colon on Tuesday.

So can't go anywhere near a salad for a week, but prosciutto is just fine.

They've been simplifying it over the years. I don't have to drink the weird stuff that I've heard about... No food the day before and the prep is just a water and massive dose of OTC Miralax. Nothing but clear liquids the day before, but the diet is more restrictive for the week leading up. But I know it's relatively new--one of my wife's friends who was at dinner has hers coming up, and her prep is more like what you describe--but she has to drink the nasty stuff.

Being in the medical field and referring out a lot of patients, my wife knows all the feedback on who is good amongst the local specialists... This is the guy they typically refer to, and in fact the guy that one of her doctors in the practice sent her own husband to.

So I trust I'm in good hands.

I prefer the nasty stuff. Much cleaner that way.

Just picked mine up at CVS yesterday.

Great topic for a restaurant thread!
