Went to this place yesterday. Very good food, and UTee would love the beer selection.

It used to be in a different location and was called The Belgian Monk.

They still have some of the Monk menu items, but yeas, there is a lot more seafood choices than they used to offer at the Monk.

Ah, now I get why they'd have good beer!

Belgian is the best, as I always say. :)

My wife and I walked over to this place, they usually have a superb "lunch special" for $17, and today was no exception.

Pasta da Pulcinella

The owner is a nice Korean lady and the chefs are all Mexican.  Nothing fancy, but really good, IMHO.  We're headed to Rome in October and I'm hoping to find some good places there.

In my quest to find a "real" French restaurant somewhere around us:

Petite Violette Restaurant - Atlanta, GA | OpenTable

Any thoughts on what I might order?

My wife is tough to please.  I can be happy at Waffle House.

I tend to lean to fish, but now I'm looking at the duck.  The place has nice wine prices.:)

Since I’m in rural Michigan at my summer Cabin on the lake, there’s not much around here as far as upscale restaurants.  Which is totally fine.

we went to Big Rs hogs, and dogs yesterday to try it out

Holy shit. I ordered the two meat platter with two sides, which was brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese.  I’m a big boy and can eat pretty well, but I couldn’t even put a dent in it    😂😂

I had the Duck platter @ a place called "What the Duck" in Lake Andes, SD last night.
I finished it, but shouldn't have.  too much food - it was OK, nothing special

We enjoyed dinner, in part because my wife talked at length with a lady who was singing with an acoustic guitar so it wasn't too loud.  The place was rather chilly.  My dinner was quite good, I had some chicken and noodle thing.  My wife had duck which she said was pretty solid and haricot vert, which I understand is green beans, which she said were good, and sweet potato puree which she said was too sweet.  I've never seen sweet potatoes in France.

The singer lady said they had a long time server who has cancer and they are doing a benefit for her tomorrow (today), and it turned out she was at the bar, which was packed.  So we stopped by and gave her our regards, she was in good spirits.  I left a donation with the manager.  The wine prices I saw on line were apparently old ones, way out of date, no bargains to be had on that list.  I ordered a mediocre Rhone for her duck.  They did have Hennessey VSOP for $12 which is pretty solid.

The place has white table cloths, which is one homage to being "French".  They have outdoor dining which looked nice, but it was 93°F when we arrived.  My wife said she'd go back, which is high praise from her.  Was it "French"?  Pretty much what one finds in the US outside some ultra posh place, but we only had the two dinner items.
