Starfish Co in Cortez. Hole in the wall dockside type place.

It's my favorite place in the area. I've had their blackened grouper probably 10-11 times, so I took a gamble.

It's a good fish, they just overcooked it. No complaints on the rec!

Badge, how is Pompano? Blackened grouper is my go-to, but I'd give it a shot if it's good.

Yeah, I will play for gumbo

Was going to post this in the "happy" thread, but we're hitting this restaurant this weekend.

https://broadwaybyamarsantana.com/

We've been there once, and to one of his other restaurants once. But it's been a few years. Excited.

When we were in Chicago, we went to Joe Flamm's restaurant. He was a Top Chef winner a few years ago and my wife REALLY wanted to go... He was the head chef at Tony Mantuano's Spiaggia at the time he won Top Chef and we went there in 2019. She said next time we go to Chicago it was a must stop.

It was freakin' delicious.

You tricked me...

I'd be interested in the roasted beef bone marrow, the crispy pork belly, the branzino, and the beef cheek mole. But man I'd have to know the mole was good because tons of places don't do it very well.

Lots of new hip places in Fulton Market. It will eventually replace River North, most likely, which has great places too, for now.

This place is probably the best lunch I've ever had, and it's tucked away in a very modest motel ($60 a night).

Gastronomic Restaurant of the Hostellerie du Mont Aimé***

It is rare in my experience for a US hotel to have a really extraordinary restaurant, but it's fairly common in Europe.  We had lunch at this place with friends, it was exceptional, I don't know how much because my menu didn't have prices.

Ermitage de Corton – Chorey-lès-Beaune - a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

This place in Burgundy is also exceptional, it's in a rather pricey small motel.  I happened upon it by accident.

∞ Château Hôtel de Bellefontaine, 4 STAR HOTEL BAYEUX IN Normandy, Arromanches, Omaha Beach, Port en Bessin

This place is in Normandy.  We stayed three nights, it was very nice.  After the first day we were pretty tired so we just ate at the restaurant at the place, it was so good we ate their every night after.

I'm not sure I've ever experienced a bad restaurant in France, but I've also always either been going with the locals who know the places, or going to places recommended by the locals I was working with.

My worst experience was in a 3 star in Marseille, but I was in a bad mood.  But I also didn't like it.

I've had some mediocre meals in France, some in touristy areas.  What surprises me is how good a restaurant can be in a fairly modest hotel.

So, I went for the scallops over risotto.  Excellente.  My wife had branzino which she said was a bit too dry, that scored us a free dessert and two limoncellos.  I left a hefty tip, the service was very good.  We dined outside on their tree covered patio, some folks were bothered by mosquitoes apparently, not us.  I thought the risotto the best I've ever had, so far.

We were laughing about any comparison with our earlier dinner at that "French" restaurant, Bistro Margot, there was none.  About the same price, enormously better overall.  This place did not get any Michelin notice, I think it worthy of at least their comment.

Pondering, it's downtown, and looks pricey, but maybe it's pretty good.  Its in the new Hilton "Insignia" which I have on my list just to visit to see it.  Apparenbtly one can pay for a "day pass" there to enjoy it's features, pool etc.

Went to this place yesterday. Very good food, and UTee would love the beer selection.
