Can't go wrong in that part of SD, pretty much.

I'll report back, but we're there with "family", so my indepdence is ... dependent.

Palm Springs we're on our own.  I don't even see a Mexican place near there.

Authentic Mexican in San Diego:

For friends visiting San Diego I always tell them if you want fancy touristy Mexican fare, do Miguel's. If you want the actual taste/dining experience of Tijuana, do Roberto's.

^^
I drive by this Del Taco location on my early AM commute to work.

The Jack In The Box in the next lot over is a busy market for dope:

Both are good in their own ways.

26 bucks for a chicken flauta is... something, I guess.

It comes out as a work of art. A lot of the costs at this place reside in the labor.

I'll take your word for it whilst devouring delicious authentic chicken flautas for 8 bucks at my nearest Tex-Mex joint.

22 bucks for a gourmet bacon cheeseburger seems in line though.  My favorite place here isn't a fancy restaurant, it's just a fancy burger joint, and the same thing would run about 18.

I generally don't find the burgers at more upscale places to be worth the ~$20 or so, versus more normal non-FF places which charge $10 or so.

Well, a good burger is easy to fix at home anyway.

Bit disappointed in last night's dinner. We ended up ordering in from Grubhub, from a place that I'd heard good things about. They do both Chinese and Thai. I was in the mood for Asian.

About the only thing we really liked were the egg rolls. My wife got the Mongolian beef and it was largely weak and flavorless. I got a spicy Thai chilies and garlic pork dish which brought the heat... But not much else. Other than that it was a relatively thin and watery "sauce" without much flavor.

Given how rarely we do anything other than cook our own meals, it was quite the letdown.

I'm lucky that Grubhub and other delivery places can't find me
saves me a ton of $$$
I'm not into take-out anyway
