In musing about our local joints, I'm a bit struck by how many seem to cater to African Americans.  There also is a Sugar Factory and an STK near us.  Both will be 80-90% "black" in the evening and at lunch for SF.  The local population is mostly white, so this is a bit unusual, to me.  We go to STK on occasion for their "social hour", which is decent.  For dinner it gets way too pricey quickly for the quality.  A parking lot next to it will have 4-5 black Suburban limos in it every night.

This is a happenin' place.  In contrast, there is a place called South City Kitchen which is quite popular and 90% white, it's more southern food oriented (which black folks mostly invented).

Then there is this place which serves .... tinned fish.  I don't really get it, but they have a nice patio.  We had brunch there once, no tinned fish.  This is where the "white wimmen are at".

There is a new place that opened where I've seen lines to get admitted in the evening, with three security guards out front.  I don't get that at all, except the clientel seems to be 99% African American, and perhaps some pro athletes go there?  I've seen some other apparent "pros" waiting to get admitted.  Looks like this too is national.

Wicked Wolf - American Restaurant

Is it one of those places where it's a restaurant but then basically turns into a "club" late at night?

I listen to a lot of live music, so I'm cool with going to those kinds of clubs.

But "nightclubs?"  No thanks.

Do you get live music in there?

That's something we enjoy, with friends, at various joints around here. We like that the music starts at Noon and ends (generally) by 9PM.

Not by appearances, the floor is occupied with tables completely, as is the outside dining area.  They do pump in loud music and there is a massive screen central located.  So, at night they must remove tables.

Wicked Wolf is a lively tavern and social hub, blending a warm atmosphere with high-energy entertainment. Enjoy flavorful dishes like burgers, wings, and fresh salads, paired with signature cocktails, craft beers, and top-shelf spirits. With spacious dining, a vibrant bar, and wall-to-wall TVs, it's perfect for casual meals, game days, or celebratory nights out. Hosting DJ nights, live music, and special events, Wicked Wolf offers an unmatched experience for friends, private gatherings, or an electric nightlife scene.

This is more our speed, on Saturday's they have a nice lady singing with a guitar.  She's French so she and my wife hit it off.

Atlanta French Restaurant Petite Violette

It reminds me a bit of Atmosphere, our French place that closed.  It's a bit lower in price and the food is not quite French according to the Boss.

Petite Violette is Atlanta’s premier, family-owned and operated French Restaurant. Started in 1974 by Wolfgang Gropp, under the name Petite Auberge, Petite Violette has delivered fine French specialties for over 48 years. Chef Gropp received training in the culinary arts as an apprentice in Europe and Canada, studying under renowned chefs, including some trained by Auguste Escoffier, the father of modern French cooking. After immigrating to the United States, Chef Gropp, his wife Ilse and Ilse’s brother Helmut poured their hearts and souls into making Petite Violette a favorite of Atlanta’s diverse population by providing a consistently superior dining experience to generations of satisfied guests.

I took my wife here years ago, we were staying at the Hilton (hadn't moved yet).

Nikolai’s Roof Menu | Fine Dining & Caviar Service in Atlanta — Welcome to Nikolai's Roof
Nikolai’s Roof Menu | Fine Dining & Caviar Service in Atlanta — Welcome to Nikolai's Roof

I was mostly impressed that their wine list was on iPads, it was that long ago.  My wife has mentioned going back some time.  They feature French-Russian fusion cuisine which was pretty solid.

My favorite place is this:

Bacchanalia — Star Provisions

Bacchanalia offers a four course, prix fixe menu at $125. per person. The menu evolves slightly each evening and throughout the seasons. We offer a wine pairing suggestion with many of the menu options.

Then there is this place quite close by but we have not been brave enough to try:

menu | Lazy Betty Atlanta

It would run a grand for just the two of us to do the full monte.  I dunno.  Mebbe after the Dawgs win another NC?

I know it's not particularly "unique", but this is always a nice place for special occasions...

https://www.mastrosrestaurants.com/location/mastros-ocean-club-newport-beach/

Can't beat the location, and they have an open-air atrium in the middle of the restaurant. We usually sit within the bar area just inside of said atrium.

They do have live music in the bar area. Usually it's one woman, or a mixed duet, doing covers of well-known music, and it's usually quite good.

You don't really go there "for" the live music, but it does give it a really nice ambiance.
