I usually fix eggs on weekends for us here over toast, cooked over light.  It's quick and she likes it.  She will eat some grits if I fix them, but I usually don't.  My breakfast in HS was four fried eggs, grits, toast, OJ, and milk.  I usually skipped lunch in the school cafeteria and went to either BK or McDs for lunch after school, sometimes I got out early, had Bball practice at 4 in season.

My BK year was nice because the same lady worked it by herself and would see my car pulling in and start the flaming.

Whopper, fries, and large orange for 98 cents.  Every school day when I was a senior.  And I couldn't gain weight.

I always think of something being broken when someone says they "fix" something.

"Fix" and "prepare" seem interchangeable to some.

Is it a Southern thing?

I'm about to make some scrambled eggs with chorizo for the family.

Then I won't eat again today until we have chile relleno fest at my folks' house tonight.

Sure.  And there's one more meaning, down here if we say we're "fixin' to mow the lawn" it means we're about to mow the lawn, sometime in the near future.

I'm fixin' to fix eggs for my wife.

We'll eat the fixins on toast.  Then i'm fixin' to head out to buy her flowers at the local shop.  The nice lady there will fix something up for me.

I'm getting ready to prepare some things today.

Baby backs, sea scallops, and grilled octopus are on the docket.

The ribs will be smoked for a couple of hours and finished in the oven. Scallops will be pan seared. Octopus will be grilled and finished with EVOO, reduced balsamic, and caramelized onions and peppers.
