It's good that you didn't have to endure a kick to the nuts to get there.

The restaurant was "OK", mine was decent, I ordered chicken paillard, which is a fancy name for chicken fried chicken.  My wife had avocado toast and a side of mushrooms, which were pretty bad.  She liked the toast.  BUT, they tacked on a 20% service charge that frosted her pretty much.  Didn't bother me.  Don't know if she will go back for dinner when the menu is more expansive.

Decor is nice.

Being a French expat in America, how does your wife respond in general to American "tipping" culture. I'm sure it's come up in discussion :57:

I can see someone who grew up where tipping doesn't happen having gotten used to it culturally, but then when it's a forced service charge, asking "well why don't they just increase menu prices and say no tipping allowed?!"

She has lived here since 1999, so I think she's attuned to it.  When we go to France, she reminds me, usually, not to tip more than maybe a euro on occasion.  I was surprised she took exception to the service charge really.  I tip 20% unless service is pretty bad, and it rarely is.  There was a line on the bill for "additional gratuity" that I think set her off.

The mushrooms were $14 and they were pretty bad.  I thought about asking it to be  taken off the bill but didn't.  Chewey and the sauce was not right.

I'm broadly a lot more relaxed about all kinds of things than she is.

TERROIR: UNCORKED
Thursday, March 5th, 2026
$65

UNCORKED is a walk-around tasting where we open 30 different bottles from our list—a chance to try the cellar of our award-winning wine program. The wines are paired with seasonal paella and passed tapas. Each time we host, we dive into a different theme. This time, we’re uncorking terroir.

My wife just asked if I'd like to attend.  Duh.
