didn't get the cheese for the fries for an extra $1 plus, but did splurge for the $6+ schooner of beer!
brother's tab!

You missed out. The cheese is worth it.

I weighed the cheese against the beer

the beer won

Well-cooked crinkle-cut fries are plenty good w/o cheese.

brother wants to go here for lunch........ same place as a year ago when they first opened.  Wasn't impressed but told him I'd give it another shot.
gets poor reviews....  I'll have the special burger deal.

Portillo's

Meat our first ever meal deal: The Big Burger Bundle, a char-broiled burger with fries and a drink for just $9.99!

If someone doesn't like Portillo's, I'm not sure what they're requiring.  The hotdogs and burgers are very good.  The fries are good.  They have cheese sauce.  They have a chocolate cake shake.  They have different sausages.  They have italian beef, wet or dry.

I mean jesus, man.

That is true. For as much as I complained about Raising Cane's, those were some good crinkle cut fries.

Of course, well-cooked crinkle cut fries are better with cheese. As Portillo's proves.

I appreciate that... I realize folks like Badge and myself are biased. We grew up on Portillo's. We grew up on Chicago Dogs and Italian Beef (and Maxwell St Polish lol). So I realize that my advocacy for Portillo's probably can't be taken truly objectively.

So I suspect it means more for an "outsider" to praise it than it does for a "local"--even though neither Badge nor I are local any more lol...

The place is ok in my view but well short of really good.  Unlikely to return.maybe that location is subpar.

Given an option I’d choose Applebees.  Yuck.
