Yes, friends and neighbors, the Resident Genius contest is back in business for the 16th season under my tutelage (RIP LittleBigMatt). The rules for this game are fairly simple:
1. Each week, I will ask you to guess some measurable quantity that is measured in a football game.
2. The guesses will be ranked in order of distance from the correct guess.
3. Each guess will get a score equal to that of the rank on the guess list. Ending up 3rd will get you 3 points, 5th gets 5 points, etc.
4. In case of ties, all involved in the tie will get the score matching the rank of the tie. Two people who tie for 3rd each get 3 points, then the next person in line gets 5 points.
5. The 1st place entry each week will get a score of -5 points.
6. Ties for 1st place will NOT get a score of -5. All involved in the tie get a score of 1 point, with scoring to continue as noted above.
7. The poster with the lowest overall score at the end of the season shall be declared the Resident Genius.
8. I am the sole arbiter for any disputes. My decisions are final.
9. I reserve the right to continue or terminate this game at my discretion.
The 2022 season begins Saturday night in Columbus, with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish coming to town. Ohio State is the #2 team in the country, and they would love to start a MNC campaign with a beating of the Irish.
