Remaining Undefeated Teams after Week 0
« on: August 28, 2019, 10:23:31 AM »
This is the thread for people who love lists For anyone new, basically what I’ll do is each week post the teams with their 1st loss and the remaining undefeated teams. As the season progresses, I’ll add a 1-loss team list and a winless team list and note potential bigger games for the various teams. We can see how this lists change through the year.

Conference changes this year:
-Our only change this year is that Liberty has now completed its transition to FBS (I-A) and is now full FBS independent. This will also be the last year for UConn in the American. Next year they will be joining the Big East for all sports. Since the conference does not sponsor football, they will be an independent.

Teams with first loss week 0:
Miami (FL)
Arizona

Maximum number of Undefeated Teams at the End of the Regular Season:
14: The 10 conference champs, plus Notre Dame and a maximum of 3 of Army/New Mexico State/BYU/UMass/Liberty

(Note: As kind of an ode to how long I've been doing this list, while the conferences are listed, the teams are in order of their conferences from around when I started). Anyone new to FBS after that is listed on the bottom.

Remaining Undefeated Teams: ACC: 14, American Athletic: 12, Big 12: 10, Big Ten: 14, Conference USA: 14, MAC: 12, Mountain West: 12, PAC-12: 11, SEC: 14, Sun Belt: 10, independents: 6, total: 128

Side note:  This thread will probably not be as detailed this year.  Life has gotten kind of hectic.
