Bowl Thoughts:
-That wrapped up another year. The national championship was a disappointment, but both semi-final bowls were great. As an Ohio State fan, after seeing Michigan lose, it felt like so much was at stake for the Peach Bowl, but Georgia ended up on the right side of that classic.

-Tulane's come back win gives the American another New Years 6 Championship. Houston and Central Florida had wins in previous years. Tulane will still be in the league next year though so the American certainly has to be happy with it. The American entered the CFP era as a conference that was maybe a step above the Mountain West, but which had failed to get Boise State to jump ship. Most predictions would not have been for them to take this high a percent of the New Year Six bowls, but as we end this era for the conference, they have taken the New Year Six spot 7 of the 9 times, including the last six and had a College Football Playoff bowl appearance by Cincinnati. Realignment will likely change things up some now, but it has been a great run.

-The MAC won the Bowl Challenge Cup with a 4-2 record. Obviously scheduling matters in this, but it was a great post-season for the MAC.

-The conferences, as wholes, did not dominate their bowl games or get demolished for the most part. The Big 12 had probably the most disappointing season record wise (further strained by incoming members records), but it also had it first appearance in a national championship with TCU making it. Despite the blow out, it was a big deal. The Big Ten had a chance for an all timer of a season, but Michigan and Ohio State losing brought it down to decent.

-Conference USA is about to be half reset with all of the departures, but the remaining and incoming teams did get three bowl wins which was, all things considered, not a bad place to start.

-Next year is the end of era in many ways. The PAC-12 and Big 12 are about to lose their largest powers (Big 12 might have two years left) and we are on the verge of 16 team mega conferences. Further, the end of the smaller playoff/bowl era will change the sport in more ways than I think most expect for both good and bad. Let's enjoy one last year of this era of the sport.
