Not sure where this goes, so I'm just dropping it here.

I've been a YouTube TV customer for many years during football season.  Prior to this past weekend they failed to reach a deal with Disney for ESPN channels and even the local ABC affiliate.  Which of course, doesn't work when the wife has to have her Longhorns and I still, for some reason, at the moment, keep watching LSU games.

So I had to cut on Hulu Live TV, which I've used before, but I don't like the interface for Firestick nearly as well as YTTV.

The really annoying thing was YTTV doesn't hit my credit card until the 19th, so to get the wife through the Superbowl, I only needed TV cut on for 3 more payments.  Hulu drafts on the 2nd of the month, meaning 4 more payments to get through the Superbowl.

Don't know who is at fault for that fiasco, Disney or Google/YTTV (or both), but they can go jump.

Maybe this was supposed to go in the Grumpy Old Man thread.

Grumpy Old Man thread

Disney is greedy - youtube doesn't want to pass the extra cost to all subscribers fearing some will leave

I left when they didn't pass the cost on to me and they yanked the channels and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Our TV and fiber internet comes with the HOA fee. The total is $100/month. 300 channels or so, of which I might watch 15-20.

We get all the Fox sports channels, CBS sports channels and Disney sports channels.

What we don't get is an overflow for BTN, which is sometimes needed.

I don't know what I want to do... Hulu Live TV got bumped in price recently as well.

At some point I might want to take stock of it and figure out exactly what service out there is the optimal option for our watching habits at minimal cost.

I don't know what I want to do... Hulu Live TV got bumped in price recently as well.

They stay relatively comparable, though it's a tiny bit tricky to directly compare, because you can't just cut on Hulu Live TV.  It's going to be bundled with something.  In our case, we already usually keep Hulu streaming library, so that's not a deal-breaker, but if we had no interest in Hulu as a comparable service to, say, Netflix, then it'd be harder to justify pulling the plug.

But since we do keep Hulu most of the time, it's easy for me to compare "regular" Hulu+ Hulu Live TV vs. regular Hulu + YTTV.  It's like, a dollar cheaper for Hulu, in our market.  I believe the price fluctuates based on local taxes and may contracts with local affiliates.

Hulu still has all the local channels (needed for FOX, NBC, and CBS cfb games, and of course those same three for NFL games for Mrs. DeT.) plus the ESPN family (including ABC).  It really was a necessity for us to switch, though I'm not happy about it.

Yeah, one of the things I do enjoy about Hulu Live TV is that it includes ESPN+. Which is something I wouldn't pay for on its own, but given that it's included in the default bundle, I'm not mad at...

I have always had a full streaming service after football season because of Formula 1.  But now F1 has moved to Apple so I have no need to keep it anymore.  I'll now happily kill YTTV after football season.
