you're on the right path, I've had good luck with Samsung, refresh is the metric that matters and my limit has always been $1000

I could have put this in the "what made you happy" thread, but to continue where I first asked...

Just pulled the trigger on the 75" Samsung Neo QLED from Costco. :72:

Sweet!  Did you get it on sale?

I'm a huge fan of Samsung TVs.  Although their computer displays can get bent. ;)

Our Samsung 55" has now developed a bright spot as well.  It's 7 or 8 years old I think, definitely bought it well before the pandemic.

I plan to replace it but the problem is, it fits into a 4' wide niche on one side of the fireplace, so I can't really fit anything larger into it.  If they still made 60" that might work but since the market seems to have settled on 55" or 65", I'm at my limit.

I think the main "sale" was that Costco was offering a free upgrade to 5 year warranty on it. I don't think there was a big monetary discount. The price was the same as Best Buy... Although I do get the 2% cash back from Costco.

Should be delivered next Weds.

We are grabbing one of these for our office. We snagged a 65" a couple months ago from Best buy for $399.. was the lower end 7200 model and honestly, it's crazy how nice the picture is for that price point and it's on 60 hours a week.. hope your QLED turns out nice.. i've been running samsung a long time.. We have a crazy Sony one at home where the speaker is built into the actual screen and it was way higher on the cost scale, but to be candid, the picture quality between the high end Sony and the qled samsung isn't that different in my opinion.

I have a sound bar with subwoofer for the audio. I think the design of modern flat screen TVs have the speakers pointed away from the listener anyway, so I'd rather just ignore the sound quality on the TV itself and go a different direction on it...

I just did some searching and I've found a couple of manufacturers that are now making a 58" TV.  It's not 65" but it's at least a little bigger than the 55" I currently have.  Samsung is one of them, so that's probably what I'll do.

And I'm thinking I might do it soon, since football season is here and all...

can you disable Alexa?

I wouldn't allow her into my house

Do you own and use a smartphone in your house?  If so then "they" are already well inside your house.

Hmm... The Crystal 58" UHD is a good price, and might be an upgrade over the existing 55"... But there are definitely some much higher-end models if you stick with 55".
