My grandparents had a dishwasher that my grandpa put in sometime in the mid-50's.  It was either a Whirlpool or a KitchenAid, I think.  It outlasted him by decades.  It pooped out just about 10 years ago and I replaced it for my grandma.  The original one went for 60 years like a boss.  No way the new one I installed will last anywhere near that long.

I know a friends Speed Queen(that were considered high end back in the day) was bought in the '60s was still in his folks house that was sold in '95. He asked the new incoming owner if he'd like a new GE or Hotpoint (he worked in GE Service) and he'd go Dutch the guy said he'd keep the old reliable. He bumped into that guy 10 yrs later and he mentioned they were finally replacing it. So around 40 yrs that's probably an outlier but still they were made to last then

I've always just assumed that the funds for road maintenance in Louisiana are inevitably diverted into the politicians' pockets?  Or perhaps LSU football?

Sorry, I've been corrected.  Apparently it was only 40 years old.

Still.

@MikeDeTiger

LOL.

I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with the stand-up comedian Christopher Titus. He's quite good, had a TV show on Fox for a hot second, and he's a Los Angeles guy.

We saw him a couple (by which I mean almost 10) years back at the Irvine Improv. One of his first bits was talking about crossing the border from LA County to Orange County and how the roads changed... I think his thing included "do you go out there and bleach them nightly or something?"

But yeah, once you cross the LAC/OC border, the roads definitely change...

Which county has the nice roads and which county has the crap ones?

Only ever went to LA once, and it was a long time ago.  I went to a Lakers game in the city, trolled around Hollywood and Beverly Hills some, went to Laguna Beach, and then that wedding in Temecula.  I was staying in a city called Ontario, I think (not Canada).  I wouldn't have known if I entered Orange County and don't know if I've been or not.
