Would have better luck in Half Moon Bay, or some other, less touristy, location. Fisherman's Wharf, while still having a decent fishing fleet, is just too focused on the tourists.

Somewhere around 1986, I was in SF and someone advised me to go to Pier 39 instead of FW, and I did and it was very neat.  So, a few years ago I took my wife near there, Pier 39 was a tourist trap.

It's inherent I think.

One of the biggest tourist traps I've ever seen was at Petra in Jordan.  It was worth seeing, mostly, but the junky stuff all over was a bit off putting.

Pier 39 is part of Fisherman's Wharf.

I thought back then FW was "officially" Pier 42 or somesuch.

Now that you mention it, it's possible.

I don't know what they called those areas when you first visited in 1893.

I VERY rarely see anyone smoking a cigarette in public today.  I see the occasional vapor gizmo of course.

One thing that turned us off in Amsterdam was the prevalence of butts on the streets, it was bad.  I rarely see a butt here.

Well, sometimes at the pool maybe ...

"Gunner" is a great name for a QB.
