Purdue gave the Badgers a big scare last year, and officially launched the Jack Coan era. Coan is much improved, Taylor will likely still scorch the Boilermakers, and the Badgers are at home, where they have been and remain tough.

On the other hand, the Badgers haven't handled the spread well, and Purdue will line up an offense that tries to look more like Ohio State, Nebraska, and Illinois, than Michigan and Iowa. A couple of turnovers and this game could be a problem for the Badgers' West division title hopes.

My Badger friends still say not to worry, it's at Camp Randall. I think that's probably right. And I have no in-depth analysis to offer, just this video, which is always appropriate when the Badgers play the Boilermakers:

I gotta say that while this likely will have ZERO impact on the game, these are two injuries that help Purdue significantly.

Probably our best player on defense is George Karlaftis at DE. Having the starting LT out gives him a little more chance of being able to disrupt the Wisconsin offense if they ever feel the need to attempt a forward pass in this game. (Note to Paul Chryst--you probably don't need to attempt a forward pass in this game.)

And one of the weaknesses for Purdue is OL in the run game, so if UW is missing a space-filling NT, it at least means that we might go from 1.2 ypc to 1.6 ypc, which would be a big jump!

The good news is that Tyler Beach, the backup LT, has plenty of in-game experience. He's not the starter for a reason, but the Badgers have pretty good depth on the O-line.

2 years ago Purdue was a 17 point or so dog and had a great change to win.  But that wasn't vs a squad with eleventy billion injuries where everyone playing is a freshman all wit ha walk on QB in his 2nd start.

I hear there's a game on today, huh? I'm ripping up tile in an entryway, fireplace , and mantle. Should be more enjoyable than watching it.

Purdue looks good on offense.  2 dropped TD passes in the end zone hurt.

O'Connell looks much better out of the shotgun vs under center

2.5 ypc to 7.3 ypc. 7.4 ypp to 10.7 ypp. 30% 3rd down to 82% 3rd down.

This game wasn't as close as the 21 point beatdown.

Badgers made too many stupid penalties, tackled poorly and were burned in coverage for much of the game.

Seems like more often than not lately, the Badgers lay an egg in the first half of senior day games.
