Each division will split into 3 types of schedules
A Big 4 schedule, A Middle 2 schedule, and A Indy/Purdue Schedule
Each division will decide who are the Big 4 teams and who are the 2 middle teams based on historical performance.
This is how the Big 4 schedule would work
Play exactly 2 out of 4 of the Big 4 teams in the other division every year.
Play each Big 4 team 50% of the time and each Big 4 team a total of 4 times in 8 years.
Play each middle 2 team 37.5% of the time.
Play each midlle 2 team 3 times in 8 years.
Play Indy/Purdue 25% of the time.
Play Indy/Purdue twice in 8 years.
Never play more 1 middle 2 team and/or Indy/Purdue each year.
In other words, the Big 4 teams always play 2 Big 4 teams and 1 team that is either from the middle 2 or Indy/Purdue
This is how the middle 2 schedules would work
Play the Big 4 teams 37.5% of the time, or play each Big 4 team 3 times in 8 years. Alternating play just 1 of Big 4 teams 1 year and 2 of the Big 4 teams the other year.
Play the other middle 2 teams 50% of the time, or 4 times in 8 years.
Play Indy/Purdue 50% of the time or 4 times in 8 years.
Here is how the Indy-Purdue schedules will work.
