The idea the Bulls wouldn’t have taken him if he declined is very funny.
It was part of the contract they showed him before the draft. Teams did that back then.

You can't just take my word for it? It was common knowledge around town.

They did exactly what I said they did, before his rookie season. It was part of the condition of drafting him. They knew what they had and wanted him to be polished. It worked - both for the Bulls and for MJ. He gained a lot more endorsements than he would have otherwise.

This was 40+ years ago - the climate has changed.

Today's coaches and players could certainly take it upon themselves to become more polished.

That would be nice.
Yeah, Sanders' communication style has hurt him financially, lol.  

But if he could have won the approval of one message board poster, it would all have been worthwhile.
