Preseason Rankings
« on: July 25, 2017, 03:52:18 PM »
Fortunately, these don't have any real outcome on anything any more that I can discern, but they are fun to peruse.  Usually, the top 3 end up in the top ten.  The top ten end up ranked.  The second ten are more of a crap shoot of course.  Who do you think is most over ranked and most under ranked here?

Going by averages: Wisconsin is significantly underrated there. It feels like a ~#8 team. Michigan is slightly overrated. They feel like a ~#15 team.

I really don't know what to make of Florida. I could say either, so I'll just hold instead. As for FSU, if you nix the #7 that pulls their average down, I think the other pulls have them correctly.

I'll go Clemson as overrated. I think Watson was that special.

And give me Nebraska as underrated. They'll finish the season in the top 25. (Guess they aren't a helmet...)

Wisconsin seems like the easy pick for underrated.  I think people are selling Colorado too quickly too.

I think Oklahoma is overrated there

I'm not confident at all that Nebraska will finish in the top 25

I'd go with Auburn as over rated.  Obviously, Alabama could be the one here, or Ohio State, but I doubt it.  USC is plausible as is FSU.

I'm going with Oklahoma State as the surprise (somewhat) team than makes a NY6 bowl game.

The Horns up there with a new coaching staff

and apparently South Florida gonna be a load?

why is South Florida listed below the Horns?

Florida State is overrated.

Miami, Wisconsin, and I'll even say Michigan are underrated.

Looks like USF would be above Texas.

I have a feeling VT turns things around in a big way in Fuentes' second year.

i'll go with clemson as well. i think they'll be a good team, but more in the 15-ish range than borderline top 5.

auburn will either be top 5-10 or unranked.

I question this. TCU gets ranked in 1 poll and not ranked in the other 5, but because their one ranking is fairly high, they beat out several other teams who have multiple votes.
I think in the past I've used 2 numbers, if there is "others receiving votes" category  that the team fell into they got 26th, and if they didn't make that they got 30th. doing something like that would drop TCU below all those other teams who got multiple votes.
