Michigan will see a great defense the week before it sees Ohio State's defense.

Not many teams in the country have as many 4 and 5 star kids on the field at one time like Texas did.

If they're "rebuilding", you fooled me.

Rebranding maybe, but not rebuilding.

Can we please stop calling Florida a quality opponent? Please?
You might be right.  It's hard to tell in week one.

Big Ten certainly did well for itself with some wins over mediocre helmet teams where the optics are far better than beating an equivalent non helmet team.
But both wins were road/neutral and that means something.
That said we also narrowly avoided a few home losses to absolute FBS dregs.  Minnesota, Northwestern and Nebraska have A LOT of work to do.

1) Michigan.  Best win of the weekend.  Defense reloaded, while the offense had some fixable issues.
2) Ohio State.  I'd argue that they had the 2nd best win of the weekend.  Depth is awesome, but it kind of looked like same old same old from last year offensively.  IU got totally gasses in the 2nd half.  Lots to prove still.
3) Wisconsin.  Just a gut feel here since it is hard to give too much credit for that win.
4) Penn State.  Also a horrible opponent, but did what they were supposed to do.
5) Maryland.  Got a nice win that could look really good a few months from now.  Musical QBs continues and though I have my doubts, I have to put them at the top of tier 2 for now.
6) Iowa.  A team that usually plays down to competition didnt this time.  Nice win against a solid opponent.
7) Purdue.  Preseason predictions be fanned, they looked pretty good Saturday night.  My hesitation is that Louisville has turned in some clunkers against bad teams lately, but I saw enough to have genuine optimism for the Boilers.
8 )Indiana.  What a first half.  Depth is the big problem, but I think they will be able to hang with top tier teams for a half.  Gotta get that running game going though if they want to close out tough games.
9) Rutgers.  I don't feel horribly confident here, but they hung tough with a good team. I think we have to start the year fresh and take 77-0 out of our mind.
10) Michigan State.  Haven't seen anything yet that tells me they will win more games this year.
11) Nebraska.  Another year, another shaky non conference game.
12) Minnesota.  Row the boat, but in which direction?
13) Northwestern.  See Nebraska.
14) Illinois.  Glad most of us got them out of the way.

I think Indiana might be the best team a Big Ten School played this weekend.

Yikes, enough to erase 49-0?
I don't think I'll move MSU up in my rankings, but Rutgers certainly didn't show anything to negate the fact that I can erase the fact that they were 49 points worse than the next best Big Ten team last year.

Michigan will see a great defense the week before it sees Ohio State's defense.
While I agree, it's far to early to confidently say Florida is not a better than average team. It's also too early to talk up Indiana.

Michigan saw a great defense, but a mediocre at best team.  I got to witness perhaps one of the best defenses I've ever seen, go 7-6 in 2012.  I'm not sure Florida is as good on either side of the ball as 2012 MSU

Indiana might be a tough out this year, but they have to develop a run game.  Florida might have a good defense this year, but a lot of those Muschamp guys are gone, and what they ended up was all right looking, though didn't appear to be all that special.  Tough to tell from one game.

Last week in parentheses

1. OHIO STATE (1) - certainly not going to drop them after a 28 point road, night, Big Ten win
2. PENN STATE (2) - picking up right where they left off
3. WISCONSIN (3) - need to come out of the gate stronger or I might drop them a spot
4. MICHIGAN (4) - going to need better from Speight
5. IOWA (6) - defense looks stronger than expected
6. MARYLAND (10) - backfield is going to be unpleasant to try and deal with
7. INDIANA (9) - maybe hold off on those "over - rated" chants
8. NORTHWESTERN (5) - Yikes #1
9. MINNESOTA (7) - Yikes #2
10. NEBRASKA (8 ) - Yikes #3
11. MICHIGAN STATE (11) - WMU looks like a tougher game than expected, after giving USC all they could handle in Troy
12. PURDUE (13) - when was the last time there was cause for optimism in West Lafayette?
13. ILLINOIS (12) - thinking they'll be #14 at some point
14. RUTGERS (14) - they were so far behind the pack, it takes more than "not getting blown out at home by a team travelling cross country" for them to leave the cellar
