If MSU finishes 11-2, that looks pretty gaudy for them, top ten finish, possible top five, and the reverse is true, they could well finish 9-4, which is decent, ranked, but 15th or so with some disappointment at the end of the season.

PSU is in the same kind of boat lower down obviously, they could finish 7-6 or 9-4 (8-5), none of these would be considered a sterling outing for them.  Interesting game to me, I don't have a clue who will prevail.

Penn State probably SHOULD win on paper if Clifford and Dotson are able to go off- but James Franklin will keep MSU in it til the end. It's just what he does. The guy is an awful in-game situational coach. Hell of a recruiter though.

If what you say is true, Penn State should win. In my opinion, if both teams are healthy, they are equal.

I also wonder how common this always was, but now they tell you to stay home, rather than suot up, go puke, take an IV of fluids, and get on the field

Kirk Ferentz, post-game, confirmed that Iowa suffered an influenza outbreak during the week before the Nebraska game. Apparently both QBs were out of practice on Tuesday, and it was a Friday game. So this is completely believable.

I forget the Fiesta exists for some reason.  Iowa in the Rose?  Meh.

A very good season for MSU though, they beat their main rival again for their only loss.  Most fans would have  taken 10-2.

Absolutely a win for the Spartans, not sure if i would have backed the truck up and dumped that much money in anyone's lap w/o at least a Conference championship ring.It was the perfect storm and Murphy's law the last couple of yrs with MD.But Mel did well in the portal and hopefully for MSU opened up some recruiting lines
