63° here  beats the 93° or even 83° for the last 3 months prior - football weather

Looks like it's gonna be around 65 at kickoff in Knoxville with a high of around 75 by the time the game is over.  That kind of bone-chilling weather is definitely a disadvantage to the Horns, they're used to 105 and sunny.

Analysing the problem and developing an optical correction was a masterpiece of optical engineering and an outstanding example of the valuable collaboration between engineers and scientists from both America and Europe.

During the first Hubble Servicing Mission in December 1993, a crew of astronauts carried out the repairs necessary to restore the telescope to its intended level of performance.

The Roman telescope is a million miles out, not really accessible for any repairs.

It still blows me away all these years later that they never tested the mirror on the ground. I think there was actually some kind of technical reason for it, I just don’t recall what it was. 

The reason why it was fixable was even though the mirror was flawed, it was extremely accurate.  So they knew exactly what the flaw was and could design a precise corrective lens. And, Hubble was designed for maintenance from the start. 

Picked up 4 'presale' tickets for Metallica show next year.  Girls and wife are in. 

We saw them at Lalapalooza in 1996. All is well.
