A representative from the NEC (FCS) contacted me, wanting to incorporate Whoa Nellie into their coverage.  We'll see if we can work something out.
It's pretty neat.
I checked out the guy online, and he's legit.
Nice!

I talked to a friend of mine I’ve known about 5 years. He’s a salesman for a major player in our industry. He’s based out of Kansas, so we don’t cross paths too often but see each other at trade shows and the like.

Anyway, about two years ago he posted a picture of himself standing outside MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. I noticed he wasn’t at our national show, he texted me he was sick. I forgot what the caption was, but clearly he was dealing with something major.

Anyways, he called me a few days later and told me the story. Routine check, very high PSA. Bad prostate cancer. Spread to his bones. We’re almost exactly the same age, he’s one month older but born in ‘75 like me.

Very fit guy too, very active, healthy lifestyle etc.

Drs in KS gave him two years to live. He ended up getting into MD Anderson, started receiving treatment there. There was a clinical trial that he responded too really well. I’m trying to remember the details, but essentially they cured his prostate cancer, and stopped and shrunk the bone cancer. Drs had pretty much told him that eventually the treatment he was on would stop working and he’d have to do something different, that he’d have to live with the bone cancer the rest of his life.

Anyways, he told me yesterday that he’s officially cancer free, they’re taking him off all medications and treatment.  He’ll have regular checkups but basically he went from 2 years to live to cured.

With cancer so prevalent and a person's health being basically meaningless for whether you get it or not, that's the frustrating part.  Although I'm sure his fitness helped the treatment and recovery.

Sort of takes away some motive to stay fit, though, if it doesn't help you avoid cancer.

Yeah I agree.  It seems so random.

Well staying fit is just sorta universally good. And it if helps you have more energy and ability to weather the cancer treatment, that's also helpful.

And it's not true that it's "basically meaningless". The CDC says "Being overweight or having obesity are associated with a higher risk of getting 13 types of cancer. These cancers make up 40% of all cancers diagnosed in the United States each year."

Now what I don't know is how this deals with people like me, who are obese because of very high muscle mass... My height-to-waist ratio is >2, and yet I have a BMI just over 30. The former is considered healthy; the latter unhealthy. I could certainly lose some weight, but have basically zero chance of ever having a BMI that's not at least into the overweight (25-29.9) territory.
