Had a BIG win in court yesterday. Can't tell you what it's about here because it would necessarily turn political, but if you're interested and willing to have a reasoned conversation with me about why this was important/correct, I'm happy to do so over DMs. Not very often that my cases make the NY Times, but this one did. Suffice it to say, that's a career highlight.

You can search "Northern District of California" on the NYTimes and you'll find it from June 23.
Can you post a free link here? Of course, we will not discuss it on board.

Not sure if this will work, but:
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/23/us/ice-arrests-immigration-courts-california.html

The words in the link will tell you enough about why it's not appropriate for Board discussion.

On my end, I had another piece published on the corporate blog today. Look it up if you want to know more about storage tiering...

Nobody? Anybody? Beuller?

Ok then... :57:
Send me the link. Most of it will probably go over my head, but maybe not all of it.

And that's a shame, because this immigration stuff used to be a bipartisan issue - not even that long ago!

I can see a reasonable argument for both sides in this case.

Drinking a cold beer. Smoking a cigar while floating in my pool is one of my great pleasures.  I will finally be back home tonight and going to enjoy it tomorrow
Had to modify this post.  Somehow I wrote cigarette instead of cigar.  Did this yesterday except for the cigar.  I smoked my last cigar on the road and have a bunch on order.  I had planned to purchase a bunch in Maine, but they have a 75% excise tax on cigars. Going to have to solve that problem if I am going to be in Maine for 5 months a year

Lol, I wondered about that.  I read your post and thought to myself, I wouldn't have pegged you for a cigarette smoker.

Yeah I thought that was a little surprising, too.  I automatically assume anyone under the age of maybe 75 who smokes cigarettes is a total dumbass, and I don't consider Riff to be a total dumbass.

A 73 yo friend of mine is recovering from having his ribs cracked open and part of a lung removed.  Truly hope all the enjoyment from all those cigs was worth it.

Me, I'm about 2 years into the nicotine lip pillows.  Probably should think about that sometime, but damn, they are good.  Nobody really knows what they might do to you at this point.

My mom smoked for over 50 years, and now she's going in every 3-5 years to get spots of lung cancer zapped off through radiation.  Luckily that's all it's been so far as far as cancer is concerned, but she also has serious breathing issues and is on oxygen 24/7.  She's 83 now so I guess she's still doing pretty well all things considered.

And then my idiot brother has dipped for over 40 years too.  I've just resigned myself to the idea that he's going to die too young from fucking mouth cancer.

Might be better to move this discussion to the grumpy thread.

Here's a bit of happy.

Kid #3 is going to start Sr. year at K-State in the fall.  Has her big-girl internship in Manhattan this summer.  She's supposed to put together 10 of these little vignettes, this is the first drop.  Cool careers, all you need is an ME degree, no big deal!

Checked it out. Breaking things is fun. Breaking things in a computer simulation isn't quite as fun, but still seems like a cool thing to do. Nice job!
