My dad wanted Texas Roadhouse for dinner so that's where we're taking him.  Honestly it's not terrible, usually a pretty decent steak.

Did my annual father's day brewery crawl yesterday, what an awesome time.  We hit 4 local breweries, 3 of my favorite plus one new one.  They all have biergartens and big screen TVs showing World Cup, so it was pretty awesome.  Then we hit my favorite Tex-Mex place on the planet where I enoyed enichiladas, margaritas and was home by 6.  Kids watched a movie with us, all snuggled up on the couch.  Felt like a throwback to several years ago.  What a great day!

Texas Roadhouse has solid food.
Usually a long wait and crowded and loud - those are the issues for me

I just bought lunch for my ex-father-in-law at Famous Dave's BBQ - a chain that's not great but pretty decent
it was real decent today - I had St. Louis style ribs, brisket, and burnt ends along with the cornbread muffins, garlic mashed taters, creamy coleslaw, and catfish fingers I won't need another meal tonight

my daughter and ex-mother-in-law were along

Famous Dave's was my initial BBQ go-to when I first moved to Phx.  It was good enough and close by.

I've probably said this, but finding a BBQ joint out here with sweet tea AND hushpuppies not filed with jalapenos was a challenge.
The tea thing is not an issue anymore, but back then, it strangely was.

My daughter had her dance recital last night, and other than the fact that it was 2 1/2 hours of hell for that 2 1/2 minutes of watching her perform, she did really well!

We didn't exactly go steakhouse like FF afterwards, but we had a nice dinner at Eureka! Burger... If you come across one (looks like locations are mostly up and down the West Coast, although there are locations in Tempe and Austin), give them a try.

Pretty good. I had a black and bleu mushroom burger, which was pretty good.

Although I must say... The more I go out to restaurants, the more I realize how often their food isn't as good as mine.
Been there and done that on the dance recitals.  Grueling.

I agree wholeheartedly on the food.  I got a couple of 16 oz KC Strips from the local fancy meat market, and grilled them over charcoal with a coating of Montreal Steak seasoning, and finished with a pat of butter.  No way any joint would pull that off, let alone for the $53 I paid to feed my dad, wife and I.  Grilled some corn on the cob while the steaks were getting their rest.  Hell, I ate Freddy's last night, we paid nearly $40 for 2 meals, and it was turrible.  Except for the Turtle Sundae, I guess.  That was the real treat for the keto cheat weekend.

I see some of you guys are still on the "cholesterol kills" train.  It's bunk.  And, your levels are far more related to genetics than what you stuff in your face anyway.

Doc pulled off my statins that I'd been on for 15 years - not today but it still makes me happy

I got my friend's bumper fixed.  I hate having a debt to a friend.  I messed it up, I needed to get it fixed.

Today's Happy: Quitting around lunch and driving to Wichita to see Wyatt Flores at the iconic The Cotillion.  Kid is fantastic.

I just got off too - this morning. It was only 10 mg, but still a happy day.

Eating fish/chicken instead of beef and not as many fries works, which belongs in the grumpy thread.

I rarely drink beer anymore.  The brewery crawl on Saturday was the fist time I've had more than 2 beers in a day since... well... probably the brewery crawl last year.

Same.  I love a cold beer now and then, but I don’t get much buzz unless I drink one of the high ABV beers, of which few taste good to me

Yeah I still love beer, but I find that it just doesn't agree with me all that well anymore.  It's really filling, makes me feel bloated and sometimes upset stomach as well.

I save it for special occasions these days.
