We have a flight from Barcelona to ATL in October made as part of the cruise, so it's "not upgradable".  I am in a chat with Delta now and they are putting us in Comfort with no charge.  I was trying to use miles to do it on line, didn't work.

So I went to their Chat site and got some AI thing that was goofy and then a person.

My experiences to date with AI stuff has been ... some combination of humorous and useless.  I'm not impressed, at all.

Okay, so it's reached the level of 'random guy in India'?

AI is a bit scary to me, I have no idea where it's headed.  The eventual impact on employment is one aspect.  We already have MANY Waymo cars here driving around, they get confused at times, but actually drive pretty well from what I've seen, never used one.  We have the small delivery bots everywhere, they get confused pretty often, and can be funny to watch as they try and cross a street.

Tip of the iceberg.  I expect some medium level restaurants to start using bots very soon, at least to deliver meals, maybe your server is human, or maybe you order off an app and the whole thing is automated, including cooking.

The scariest part has to be military use.

Aside from automation, I see folks using it, or trying to develop some new drug.  I find that "fascinating".

hah, way back in the 60's &/or 70's computers were going to eliminate a significant number of jobs.
and maybe they did
didn't seem to ruin the world or the economy

I THINK this will be difference, as in a lot of "menial/low skill" jobs could be eliminated, like truck driving etc.  The computer revolution mostly eliminated fairly skilled jobs.

I think truck driving does require skill, but those folks won't see another career op very well.

This was yesterday... But my biweekly Zelle to my ex declined in amount for the first time in a decade. And will continue at the lower amount.

CS continues until a kid is 18 years old or has graduated HS, whichever is later. And the oldest (who was already 18) graduated Thursday.

He's going to college so I'm going to still be spending a lot on him, but no longer do I have to give damn cent directly to his mom.

Another year and 16 days, and kid #2 rolls off as well. Something to look forward to.
I've heard that in some places they can make you pay the ex-spouse all the way through kids college, or at least force a parent to support their kids all through college. Not sure if true.  Maybe a crazy uncle rumor.

I may have told this before, but I was the domicile parent, so my ex paid me monthly, not much, under $500 for three kids, I banked it all for their college.  Anyway, one month it didn't come, the next month it didn't come, so I mentioned it to her and she flew off the handle at me (as usual), it was somehow my fault.

So, I do nothing about it until I get a call from Children's Service harassing me for not paying child support.  I kindly inform the lady that I'm on the other end of this equation, she checks her papers, and says she'll call me back.  Whatever.

A week later my ex calls me all mad because a county sheriff showed up at her door saying he would arrest her if she didn't pay up, again, my fault.

The deal was she had changed checking accounts and not bothered to change the monthly payments.  Anyway, it got sorted out, I didn't go to jail.  I think I got the back pay, which I had asked to be reduced in the divorce because I thought it was way too much.  I think it was supposed to be $1500 or so a month, for three kids, while I was making a pretty nice salary.  Crazy I know.

I got pretty well hosed in the process, but not *that* hosed!

Texas played someone or something called "Daniel Baker" way back in the day.  If you're bored you could attempt to recreate that...
Some interesting opponents for service teams:
Peru Teachers Navy V-12
Cherry Point Marines (played them twice in the same season)
Beaumont General Hospital
Coronado Amphibious Training Base
Klamath Falls Marine Barracks
Washington Redskins Rookies
Navy Plebes
Third Air Force played against Third Infantry and Second Air Force
.
And don't forget the nicknames/mascots:
Gremlins, Air Devils, Troop Carriers, Thunderbyrds, Skycrackers, Cloudbusters, Boat, Superbombers, Amphibs

The dog has responded well over the last week and a half to the vet choosing to ween her more rapidly off the steroids that caused so many problems.  Her liver enzyme count is now, well, countable, again, after being so high they couldn't actually be measured by the test, which was leading to the greatly inflamed liver and host of other problems.  And her wounds are starting to heal now that her immune system is waking up again.  Platelet count remains good despite weening down from steroids, which is a good sign.

The ITP will always be a threat to come back and make all the platelets disappear again, but today, I'm happy that she's looking better, acting like she's feeling better, and getting healthier.  We're going to enjoy her for as long as we've got with her.
