@betarhoalphadelta , @Wildcat4E , both of you raised the point about not being good enough to play for the US and so taking their opportunity for another squad.  Hard to think that fits in Nola's case, as he's the Phillies' ace.  Maybe there's still not enough room for him on Team USA, but damn.
I guess it was up to DeRosa to ask, and ultimately, the player can choose what team to play for.  I'd certainly have taken Nola over Skubal and his antics, had it been known he would pitch once and then go back to spring training.

I'm pretty sure the WBC didn't care about "citizenship," just ancestry...how the hell would Great Britain have put a team together?!

Got an appointment with an endocrinologist tomorrow. Been waiting a while.

Grumpy.

Met with the Adrenal Surgeon up in Tampa last week and he will be removing the tumor up there at his Adrenal Institute.

But I have to lose weight, and I can't with this tumor messing me up. I've been waiting for 6 weeks to see this local doctor to get an Rx to block the effects of Cortisol (causes weight gain, among many other things).

One phone call from Mr. Big up in Tampa and all of a sudden, I have an appointment here.

Funny how that works.

Happy.

Yup.  If the Endo's over there are anything like the ones here, they're drowning in patients and the wait time tends to be god-awful.  But most doctors will force an opening as a professional courtesy if a peer-to-peer conversation happens.  Especially if the other doc attests to them the urgency of the matter.

That's why I said "often". It's not always the case. Sometimes its because of an emotional connection to the country they're playing for.

I don't know squat about baseball, and had never heard of Nola before this, so I didn't want to assume that was the case in HIS specific instance.

This one had me pushed out into June. Not anymore.

Also, they will start to loosen up in May or so, when all the snowbirds leave and stop clogging up the doctors.

They all get their shit done down here. Better recovery where it's warmer.

Grumpy, yet happy they'll be gone soon.

My endo books 13 months out.   He's a total badass and I understand why.

I was referred to endo months ago and I haven't even heard from them yet.  That's how bad the logjam is here.  Our area is under-served in several specialties, though.  The worst is rheumatology.  There's just too few doctors, and so many patients who need their help.

Getting an MD is hard. We have big a shortage too.

My primary is an APRN and even she is buried.

Keeping apprised of my son-in-law's 10 year journey, and some of the stupid hoops they make them jump through...I guess it's good news that he will be needed when he finishes the 3 yrs of slave labor they term "residency."  And he can start buying supper at some point.

well, you folks live down south where the old people go to retire and doctor up

not nearly as crowded as north & South dakota for doctors
