Congrats! I realize it's probably a little bit bittersweet. But considering you already live in a mixed marriage (Horns/Ags), it's not like you can really hate the Aggies that much. You married one :57:

We're in limbo until late this month, as the premier UC schools don't announce their acceptances for a little while longer.

Oh he's got that covered.  With the grades he's managed so far, it's pretty much impossible for him to get into UT.  And A&M's not looking all that likely, either, to be honest.

Welcome to the world of genuinely liking your kid's university, but despising its sports teams. I think you'll generally like it here. Honestly, I find the competition kinda fun, even though SFIrish also sides with the kid.

Oh it'll all be fine.  A&M's a good school, and an excellent option for animal science.

She's a band/music/arts/theater kind of kid, I doubt she'll get very involved in following the sports anyway.  She's been to many football and baseball games, for both UT and A&M, and never cared a lick about any of it.

Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg didn't finish college, John d.Rockerfeller or Henry Ford didn't attend.

Larry Ellison does not have a college degree. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later the University of Chicago but dropped out of both institutions without graduating. He moved to California in 1966, where he taught himself computer programming and later founded Oracle in 1977. I think he's right behind Elon for the moment

-Kirk Kerkorian worth $5.2 billion had an unusual path to success, dropping out of the eighth grade to become an amateur boxer and later a World War II fighter pilot before developing the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

-Best Buy founder and former CEO Richard Schulze Net worth today: $3.8 billion had dropped out of Central High School in St. Paul, Minnesota — not that it seems to have held him back

- David Green the founder of Hobby Lobby and his family employ more than 43,000 employees at around 900 stores across the nation. He completed high school in Oklahoma but never attended university, instead becoming a retail manager and using a $600 loan to start a home business assembling and selling picture frames.

-  Fearless there's another....well I'll stop right there ;D

The random small number of people who drink whiskey, smoke a pack a day, eat lots of bacon, and live to 100, exist.

That doesn't mean it's an optimal or high-odds strategy for the general public to expect the same.

While Nubbz highlighted a few uber-wealthy people, the number of people who have and more that can be come successful without a four-year degree is not a random small number.

Over 70 today! I quasi-played 9 holes (didn't putt much) plus another hour or so hitting approach shots and chipping. Probably gonna be a little sore tomorrow, but it was worth it.
