The internet and big feet.

No, this is not a post about foot fetishes.

It's about the fact that for people with anything over a size 12, finding shoes pre-internet was a nightmare. As someone who wears a 13 wide, I felt it. And I can't imagine what people who wear something larger like a 15 had to deal with. It was bad enough in things like sneakers, but then when you start getting into any "specialty" shoe like golf shoes... Good effing luck.

It's not that shoe companies couldn't make them. And it's not that there weren't enough people in the US with big feet to justify it. It's that the density of those people with big feet was spread so thinly that it didn't make sense for shoemakers to make a lot of those sizes, nor for shoe stores to carry them.

But now, it's different. I can go to a shoe store, and while they still won't have a lot of options in stock in my size, I can evaluate which shoes I like visually. Then I can go home and order a pair, easily, in my size. The shoemakers only have to fulfill out of a single stock location, so they can service the entire country of big-footed people from one place. And if they arrive and don't fit right... I can just send them back.

When some people gripe about how things keep getting worse, this is one area that I can say that a formerly underserved community now has ample access to something as pedestrian--pun intended--as shoes that fit properly.

Well, I don't know if you want my advice. I'm now down 7-8% just since the market opened this morning.

You're not down unless you sell, which would be foolish.

Unless the "wide" sizing is the deciding factor, I don't understand this.  I've worn a size 13 since around 1993, and I never had trouble finding shoes in my size.  Tennis shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes, sandals, you name it.  Now, I always noted that if I'd been size 14 I'd have been out of luck in almost every store I ever shopped at.  But 13's were always in stock.

Let's find them and wring their scrawny little necks or boot them in their ample backsides and then go have have a West Coast IPA. Or live big and have a Bud fat,naw couldn't do that to ya,worse part is the IRS hasn't even started in on me

Yeah, I know.

Ultimately, I have to do something to diversify. The last year has put me in a position where a huge portion of my net worth is in two stocks, and those two stocks are two different aspects of a fairly narrow industry, so from a "de-risk" position it's practically one stock. I'm actually talking to two different potential advisers now. (And thanks to @MarqHusker for his advice via PM.)

But I guess, in the sense of this thread, I'm happy about the fact that the last year has put my net worth in a position where I'm terrified to lose the gains I've made on paper, and that's a "good problem" to have lol.

Quite a bit down today, but losses almost completely offset by Eli Lilly and Apple gains
