but at least I never have to be mad at my alma mater for denying him :57:
Alas, as y'all know, this is not my situation. Worse yet, I've come to really like the dang University of Minnesota (and I have good reason aside from SFGopher to feel that way...except for their sports teams). And SFGopher is thriving there* (this part belongs here on the what makes you happy thread, but it wasn't "today"). Frick. So much internal drama to resolve.

(Which hasn't been that hard to resolve; I just don't like those Maroon and Gold teams--everything else is good.)

* Side Note: the fact that UM-TC has invited him to apply to the honors college after semester one suggests that UW-Madison probably should have taken a chance on him. That said, he might not have thrived the same way there for a variety of pretty straight forward reasons (from where I sit), so reality is that it probably worked out just right.

The house down the street from me where their pit bull attacked a neighbor's golden retriever (and I had to intervene), and who put a nasty note on my son's car once b/c he had the audacity to park in the public on-street parking in front of their house...

...is getting foreclosed and their house is up for auction
You're a bad man Bwarb I might have tried it - with a taser or my shooting irons

In unrelated news, in my neck of the woods $800K can get you a decent-sized 3-2 on 2.5 acres...

Plus it's close to a Torchy's, so that alone probably adds another $50k in value.

Just finished up my Torchy's.  I had the Crossroads and the TOTM, the Tokyo Drifter.  Pretty, pretty good.

I had 3 or 4 frosted schooners of Coors Banquet for lunch - didn't have a loose-meat Charlie Boy sammich

saving up for 24 wings in Nebraska for supper - place called "the Nest" in South Sioux City.  Fridays are wing specials - buy 12 get 12.

be my first visit. took longer than they expected to get their liquor license

Corngrats!
My son was accepted to Purdue!

He may or may not ultimately choose to go there, but at least I never have to be mad at my alma mater for denying him :57:
Congrats.   We're in visiting colleges mode now.  Our oldest recently removed Purdue from her consideration list ('I'm not an Engineer')  that's besides the point,  my pocketbook is sad.    We're going to visit/tour U. of Michigan this weekend.

I can remember splitting a platter of (50) wings at Hooters back in my 20s with a guy - can't do that anymore

I split the (24) with a friend tonight - only ate 10,  Not bad, cooked well as I like them, the 2 sauces I had were not great.  The french fried taters were very good.
May or may not go back.  Only light beer on tap.  The ambiance wasn't awesome, converted Hardee's place.  Plenty of large screen TVs.  But the vibe wasn't great.

Only light beers on tap???  Yikes.

This should go on the grumpy thread.
