We attended a "neighborhood meeting" last night that was not as bad as they can be.  By neighborhood, I mean "midtown", which is a pretty large place, about 50,000 residents and double that who work here.  There were about 200 people attending, the folks had various displays set up one could peruse before the talking part.  The "news" according to them is quite good.  A key item is they bought 4 acres of land that had been sitting idle where a tall condo building was supposed to be built years ago and have nice plans for a park in the middle of the place.

For us, it's interesting, about half a mile distant, but a 200 acre park for us is across the street.  I do think this new park will be a kind of focal point, I hope, for employees etc.  They showed a lot of historical photos, meaning 1980s, of the area, and the change is pretty dramatic.  The meeting was in the Four Seasons hotel/condos which they explained was built by a Swedish billionaire back when as part of a massive set of plans, he went bust and this was the only building built, but others have filled in over time.

The area is still growing but not at the frenetic pace of 2-3 years ago, some properties cleared for new construction are still dormant, I think the market was over built.  He talked about student housing, which for me used to mean "dorms", but these new places are fancy as heck, and now house 10,000 students up from zero a few years back.  We're across the freeway from Tech and not far from GaState.  A new one is starting near the Varsity now.

So, good news, except for traffic, and their plans continue to be to take road lanes away to build bike lands and landscaped "islands".  My wife is not amused.  I don't drive enough to really care.

Amid a nationwide trend shifting away from processed foods, Tyson Foods announced this week it plans to remove high fructose corn syrup from its products.

The Arkansas-based food manufacturer said this will impact a number of brands, including Tyson, Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm, Wright, State Fair, Aidells, ibp and others.

The sweetener that's made from corn starch is found in many processed foods, including breakfast sausage, sauces and more. https://abcnews.visitlink.me/J7yFJp

My two kids visited us over the weekend leaving Wednesday.  We had a nice time.  Both got home safely, one driving one flying.  I went with the latter on MARTA to the airport and was reflecting on who all one sees on public transportation, it's a real mixture.  It's convenient relative to driving in the afternoon, takes about 50 minutes from us door to door including the almost mile walk to the station.

I got to throw the baseball with one in the park, a rare time when I can throw with another human instead of against a practice wall.

For some reason, I woke this AM at 3 and was wide awake, I don't know why.  There is some massive music fete in the park this weekend called Shaky Knees, they were warming up yesterday and it was pretty noisy.  I'm amazed how much gear they bring in over the week for such a festival only to tear it all down after.  I suggested to my wife we take off for the mountains for the weekend.  She's thinking about it.

Heh, I think the only name I've heard off on the bill is Weird Al.  Tickets to that gig are pricey.  They have not fired up yet.  The security dude told my wife they expected 40-50,000 attendees and there is very little parking anywhere around here beyond what is used during the day anyway.

It's a nice day so I'll probably stroll over to the part of the park no fenced off by this mess.  They have at least two large sound stages and numerable other setups of uncertain purpose, some look like small white  tents.

I had my review, which went well.  I got perfect marks, but also the reply to a big uncertainty I had about how I was implementing our curriculum was, "this is the best implementation of I've seen since we adopted it."

For a genuine unknown, to hear that, was nice.

Yup, that's a serious GenX/early Millennial lineup.

I'd enjoy it, except I hate concert festivals because I hate people.

I saw Weird Al once. He changes into the costumes from the videos for each song.

I saw sublime as an opening band for DFL, which was a side project of the Beastie Boys. It's amazing how much they blew up after their singer died.

I've been able to create 1962 USC and Wisconsin for WN.  The older the team, the more pleasing it is to be able to create it.
