agreed, especially if it's a very prolonged cease fire, like a couple decades

Taking him to Ann Arbor and West Lafayette in a few weeks for campus tours. He's already been to UC-Berkeley.

Berkeley would be an easy pick for me outa those 3.
But, I grew up in midwest winters

I think the fact that he's never experienced a Midwest winter [and doesn't want to] makes it his top pick as well...

I mean, on top of the fact that it's a stellar engineering school, of course.

Georgia Tech is a pretty good engineering school with milder winters.   But then he'd be a nerd.

The state used to hand out National Merit Scholarships, I don't know if Tech does any more.  They look good on a resume though it's not much money.

My National Merit Scholarship paid for most of my school.  Then a couple of other scholarships from the school of engineering and the local Austin UT alumni chapter paid for the rest.

Oh, and all engineers are nerds, doesn't matter where they go to school.  Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Texas...

Wisconsin was $2,200/year when I was there. Most of it was paid for by others.

Yep. He's already a nerd.

We're thinking he might apply to GT and that be one of those that we only go visit if his higher priority schools don't accept him.

He's a bit limited with his intent to be a nuclear engineer, and BSNE programs are not offered at a good number of highly-rated engineering schools as it's a more niche specialty.
