This one is from Friday, but here goes anyway. A popular LSU fan site I read daily does an annual 100-day countdown to football season and picks historical events about LSU football related to the day number of the countdown. Last week the site owner was asking for suggestions for days 100-96. I emailed him one for day 99 and he emailed me back and said it was a good suggestion. In fact, on Friday, day 99, he did use it, with about the first half of his write-up using largely my exact wording. It was against the grain of the usual write-ups which tend to focus on something positive. I highlighted something LSU fans don't tend to remember fondly with the intent of dwelling on how good we have it now, as well as pointing out the silver linings that get lost in the general story which should still be remembered. Anyway, that made me happy. Tons of LSU fans across the world read that site every day, and they all read my thoughts about something, so that made me happy.
And in general, a completely separate thing.....my brother-in-law is in through the month of June, who I get along really well with. He's a recovered alcoholic with decades of his life lost with heavy, heavy abuse. He's been sober for over 6 years now, and after never really functioning as an independent adult for much of his life, he now rents a place and holds a job. His job now has summers off, during which time he comes to visit us. I'm really happy for his progress, and I like being around him, and my wife likes having her little brother around, so that makes me happy.
