Any way watched this last nite on the Old History Channel reruns - worth the watch IMHO. A balsy,dashing caper in 1971 of the plundering Lloyd's Bank in London. Same year DB Cooper relieved Northwest Orient Airlines of claiming 200,000 on their returns. Good Year for Mayhem - The Baker Street robbery was the burglary of safety deposit boxes at the Baker Street branch of Lloyds Bank in London, on the night of 11 September 1971. A gang tunnelled 40 feet from a rented shop two doors away to come up through the floor of the vault. And they had a look out on a building across the street with walkie-talkies

Evidently these sticky fingered sods had a sense of humor as there were pictures of notables in high society in compromising postions they left spread all over the vault floor

Nelson's Pillar Destroyed by Explosion in Dublin (1966)
Built in 1808 and towering over the center of Dublin, Ireland, Nelson's Pillar was a massive monument to Horatio Nelson, Britain's most famous naval hero. It was controversial from the start. In 1966, Irish Republican Army members destroyed the pillar with a bomb. Irish Army engineers then removed the pillar's pedestal with a controlled explosion, which is said to have caused more damage than the original blast. The head of the statue was later stolen from storage.
