I wonder how much people would care if he wasn’t such a proven winning coach?

Well he quit at Florida, more or less forced out in C-Bus. Then the camera having him wrapped around some tart that's not his wife kind of lends itself to question his decision making abilities

Meh.    My question still stands.

C'mon HB did you watch anything in the summer of 2018? Zach Smith smoke/fire flaring up again the URBZ goes into the Big Ten Media Days totally unprepared. He had to know someone would inquire about Zack's dismissal the day before only after it hit the presses about spousal abuse and other unsavory behavior.I or the Michigan Boards have nothing to do with Urban getting put on administrative leave and the University conducting an investigation into Meyer and his culpability. Conclusions came back Meyer and Gene Smith were suspended for taking insufficient action against Zack Smith.Urbz accused McMurphy of making shit up.Turns out McMurphy didn't make things up but certainly fanned flames, sort of a hit piece with grains of truth. All Urbz had to say was that's being handled internally or by Gene Smith - next question. But he had to smug/bullshit his way thru it,the guyz a narcissist no doubt about it.

PS - and I do go to a Michigan State Board

Huh? This makes no sense. He's pretty famous dude in the sports world. ANY one of his stature did this it would draw attention. He's got to know that being a high-profile public figure in the sports world comes with lotta scrutiny.

If Brady did similar thing it would be all over the news times 10. Why? Because he's a huge name. Dan Orlovsky did something like this? No one would give a shit.

Kinda just the nature of being a high profile celeb. Comes with the territory. Urban has to know this. He preaches it to his players all the time.

I wouldn't say he was forced out at OSU. But that whole Zach Smith debacle sure didn't help.

So wait, his college demigod stuff won't go over in the NFL with grown-ass men, but if he doesn't fly back on the plane, they're lost without their leader?

Bleh.

This whole thing reminds me of Ron Zook at Florida.  More people wanting him to fail than to do well as soon as he took the job.  With a dark cloud over him from day 1, any and every little thing balloons up and nothing can ever just be what it is.

I was watching ESPN and Keyshawn Johnson was livid not so much about what Meyer did, but about him not traveling back with the team. Said that is something that was absolutely not acceptable for an NFL coach.

+1. There was a report that he had lost the locker room by cancelling a team meeting. This goes against anyone's experience with jobs or meetings.

We really don't know obviously.  It takes one or two players disgruntled for a reporter to gin a story.

Lmao. There isn't a bigger d-bag former player in all of sports media than Keyshawn.

Dude was a solid player but not a star, and in his f'd up head he thinks he was a legend in the mold of TO or Randy Moss or Megatron.

The initial way I took this was as a truism. Like, of course no one would care if he wasn't as famous as he was.

But lets say we dialed back the success. He's got Ron Zook's resume at Florida, Earl Bruce's resume at OSU, his history with Rainey and Zach Smith and being kinda scummy in other spots, and he's somehow coaching an NFL team. I assume he'd be catching the a similar level of whatever care there is.

Who cares what he does with his personal life?   Is there a Puritan morality clause in his contract with the Jaguars?  He's an adult and his players are professionals now.
