Fingernails on a chalk board cannot be denied.
You're an odd cat.

Bodyguard (BBC, 2018) on Netflix. Pretty good yarn. A few silly problems, but overall a fun story, and nice to have a short, contained series that ends with a more or less full resolution.

Watched ep1 last night.  Enjoyed it, will definitely finish it out.  Interestingly, it didn't even really set up where the show is going, but it was entertaining, and it does leave you thinking about a few potential places it might decide to go.

Celene Dion's voice is horrible too.
It's a little nasal-ly, sure.  So was Shania Twain's.  But she was right purdy.

Shania Twain's story is fucked up.
Makes millions singing songs about how in love she is.
Husband cheats on her with her best friend.
She ends up marrying best friend's ex.
The stress gives her some condition where she loses her voice for like a decade (as a singer).
Singing those songs now seems dicey at best.

Like damn.

I remember when she rolled out to midfield on a dog sled for the Grey Cup halftime show.

She married a guy named "Mutt".  What do you expect?  :)

Finished the short season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms last night.  I liked it quite a bit and found it a pleasant change from the OG Game of Thrones.  Actually, I liked GoT a lot, but Martin's nihilistic world wore thin on me after a while.  While the Seven Kingdoms world is the same and his underlying philosophy is still there--and it lead to some typical GoT-world moments I thought would've been better if the show would commit to a bit more traditional story-telling--it had a couple of strong protagonists that I found myself rooting for.  They were a nice contrast to the power-is-everything, the-strongest-rules ethos that generally pervades that universe.  The story-telling, acting, and directing were all superb, as per usual for that franchise.

Like I say, I liked GoT but I'm not sure I would ever revisit it.  I tried House of the Dragon but it didn't hook me in the first episode, I didn't connect with any of the characters, and again, the nihilism irritated me.  But Seven Kingdoms had likable characters and the story immediately made me care about what happens to them.  Definitely plan to watch s2 whenever it comes out.

Just about always up for a watch:
...
Best in Show

Deserve rewatching every once in a while:
...
Waiting for Guffman
...

@SFBadger96  , last night I watched A Mighty Wind and I thought about you.  That one and Waiting for Guffman are leaving Netflix early next month, so I thought I'd get a watch in before they go.  Might do WFG tomorrow or Friday.

I like the two I mentioned, and On Tour With Spinal Tap better than A Mighty Wind, but I enjoyed that one well enough. My recollection is that more of that one felt scripted, and for whatever reason it just didn't land as well for me. But that cast is always a good time.

Best in Show is by far my favorite of all of those.

Reminds me, I don't think the kids have ever seen it.  They'd get a kick out of it.

I really enjoyed KO7K as well and pretty much for the same reasons you did.  Great show and I'm already looking forward to another season of it.

Fair take.

But I get a pretty good kick out of Jane Lynch and John Michael Higgins' characters in A Mighty Wind when they're talking about their religion, how it's not nonsense, anybody walking down the street could arrive at these conclusions with reasonable deductions.....not like those cults.....those are stupid.  And how she cheerfully veers off into her adult film career when she's telling the otherwise heartwarming story about how she got started and how they met.

And yes.....Best In Show is, well, the best of those shows.
