I watched S1 when it came out and I thought it was pretty good.

Haven't  watched any of S2 yet.

I haven't seen s2 either.  I've come across some reviews that say the first few episodes were a bit disappointing, and then it gets amazing.

If it hasn't been mentioned here already...

I think a lot of you would enjoy the mini-series Dopesick.  I haven't watched it recently, but it crossed my mind earlier and I really liked it, so I thought I would suggest it.  It's on Hulu.

We just stumbled on The Four Seasons on Netflix. It's a remake of an 1981 Alan Alda / Carol Burnett movie into a TV series, starring Steve Carell, Tina Fey, and Will Forte. The premise is 3 middle-aged couples, long-standing friends, that go on vacation together every season. The first one (spring), Steve Carell reveals he wants to leave his wife (and does). From that point forward, he's now bringing his new 32-year-old girlfriend to the later trips in summer, fall, and winter. So it's basically a show exploring the relationships / group dynamic as it changes.

The new series is an 8-episode TV show, episodes ~30 minutes each. Each "season" is two episodes. We ended up finding it on Monday night, watched 4 episodes, and then binged the other four last night.

Very funny, well written, well-developed characters, and very well acted. Won't get into the end (which has some differences from the movie, if you're familiar with it), to avoid spoilers.

Trigger warning: one of the couples is gay and there's moderate PDA. Clearly that's a change from the 1981 version lol. If that'll offend you, skip this one.

Sinners was good.

Holy cow, it has an 8.1 IMDB rating.  That's very high for a movie.

I thought sinners was a lot of fun...but I think Coogler tried to do too much. There are several threads that just didn't get enough attention--and probably could have been left out and made for a better movie. I think the reviews of this movie are an example of the morality police that people complain about in Hollywood. There's a lot to like about the movie, but it isn't quite as good as the Hollywood press wants it to be.
Recommend watching. If you're into vampires, music, and machine gunds it's a lot of fun.

I like music and machine guns.

I'm about worn out on vampires.  And werewolves.  And zombies.  And whatever those things were in I Am Legend that acted like zombies but the snooty movie buffs insist were vampires.  I'm tired of those things, too.

Except for Zombieland.  They could make a dozen of those and I'd watch them all.

Which reminds me......in high school I liked From Dusk Till Dawn.  Not sure how I'd feel about it now.

Had some time for TV this weekend. Finished Severance S2. I liked the turns this season took. And in concept I liked the ending--reminsent of the end of the Graduate--but in practice: don't they have to go home at the end of the work day? How is that going to work, given the calamaties that ensued?

A couple of episodes from finishing S2 of Silo. I really like the twist to S2. I agree that the first season started really strong, then turned just ok--but good enough to finish. I think the impact of the events at the end of S1, and how they are treated in S2 is pretty good. Are there holes? Of course there are, but I'm enjoying it so far. Haven't finished yet.

I also started watching Presumed Innocent. Hmmm. Haven't finished--of course there is a big twist at the end. Has to be. And yeah, the protaganist isn't especially sypmathetic, and the near porn (at least to the point that I'm at) seems superfluous...we get it; they were having an affair. My problem with the premise is the position the protaganist is in, he had to have acted differently than he did when put in the difficult position at the beginning. There was never any way that the problem he is stuck in wasn't going to come out, and he had to know it from the very start. So why even try to skate by? Of course, no story that way, but seriously, "Boss, we need to talk...you have to assign this to someone else, and I need to tell them about some stuff they are going to learn right away." Otherwise he had to know it was going to go the way it did.

But I'm curious about what the twist is going to be.

My kids just watched it the other night--after the older one watched Sinners with me. The review: that was the stupidest thing I've ever seen...now I need to show my friends.

So they liked it, even it if was ridiculous at every level.

I watched the first 15 minutes of it, and was reminded why I liked it. But I didn't stick around long enough to remember just how crazy stupid it was--but I know that it was.

Utee--on Sinners, if you're not that into vampires these days, you might really like it. The vampires actually come and go pretty quickly as vampire movies go. That being said, I would temper your expectations compared to what reviewers are saying...

I agree, with Severance, there's no practical good outcome long-term for what iMark and Helly wind up doing.  I think it speaks to how the innies are, at bottom, very childlike.  They retain critical thinking, but they have zero real-world experience that mixes with that to constitute what we'd call maturity.  I don't think they were really thinking very far ahead, nor do they have a great ability to.  It's kind of a case of "This is what I want, so this is what I'll do," sort of like a 5-yr old.  YMMV, that's my take on it.

I also agree with the whole problem you note with Presumed Innocent, without knowing much about how that stuff should actually go.  I imagine watching legal shows/films for you must be like watching medical stuff for my wife.  It drives her nuts and she complains about it, and I tell her most people don't know that stuff, and it had to be this way so the plot could happen.  She gets it, but it still takes her out of the story.

Zombieland was just fun. Not trying to do too much, just having fun. Loved it.
