I never got into Friends.  I didn't get into Seinfeld until the last 3 seasons, but I loved it.  Does not hold up at all on a rewatch, but I think it's the case of it being very good, but mainly the first to do what it did.  You watch it now, it's hard to remember how formulaic everything was prior to that.  There were different formulas, but depending on which one you chose, it went one way.  That's how I feel about shows like Friends or Cheers.  They were very good at being very expected.

We actually started to rewatch the Simpsons, and I think it does ok as a rewatch.  The weird part there is where do you stop.  Seasons 1-3 are hit or miss, but Season 4 it's non stop bangers.  But do we just pretend it ends at like Season 10?

Oh man, The Simpsons are an American Institution. I started watching in 1989, and before that on the Tracy Ullman show. I probably watched every episode for the first 10-15 years but haven’t watched a “new” episode in its regular slot in 10-20 years. I can’t even tell you what day they come on. Not because I don’t like it, but because there are almost always reruns on all the time, at least several times daily.

In my opinion they are still making great episodes. 36 years and counting.

Man I haven't watched the Simpson in forever. Loved it as a kid. Remember thinking when I was in college that it had run its course. That was 28 years ago.

I catch current-season Simpsons episodes every now and then.  The kids like it so I'll watch with them.  It's not as great as it was in its first 6-10 seasons, but it's still better than 97.2% of what's on mainstream network television.

Yeah, pretty much.

It peaked in season 7.
