(8) Big vs. (9) Mr. Mom
(8) Big (1988)
The giant piano scene, Zoltar, the toy company, Tom Hanks, and the wish to become an adult remain instantly recognizable. Big combines childhood wonder with a distinctly 1980s vision of toys, corporate work, New York, and adulthood. Its warmth, humor, and lasting popularity make it one of the most broadly appealing movies in the tournament.
(9) Mr. Mom (1983)
Recession-era layoffs, changing household roles, suburban parenting, daytime television, coupon culture, and Michael Keaton make Mr. Mom a genuine early-’80s social time capsule. The premise reflected a period when traditional family roles were changing, and the movie remains memorable because of both its comedy and its snapshot of everyday life.

Tough one. Feel like Mr Mom should have the edge bc it's a perfect of the time. The entire premise is something you couldn't make today. Which isn't true of Big.

But I just can't vote that way...

I do like that AI turned Tom Hanks into Miles Teller, but didn't do it to Kevin Bacon or Tom Cruise, when Miles Teller was in remakes/sequels to Footloose and Top Gun

I noticed the poster for Wall Street had a likeness more like Shia LeBeouf than Charlie sheen. Shia was in the Money Never Sleeps sequel.

I didn't hesitate in picking Mr. Mom .  So much many 80s checks far more than Big which is pretty timeless.

You couldn't make Big now, either.  The creepy bit about a grown woman hooking up with a 12 year old boy.
