UGA rushed the field once, and it was also after a win over the Vols.  It's a bit hard to rush the field in Athens.

The SEC will fine them for that, not the fans of course, just the program, which to me makes no sense.

We vote on a touch screen which then produces a paper ballot which is scanned, seems pretty honest.

Pretty hi-tech compared to my county.  We gotta sit there with a pen and paper and fill in the boxes like we're taking a college Scantron test.  They're adamant that you fill in the box completely.

Kind of annoying, and by the end of the ballot when it gets to the super local stuff I'm tempted not to bother.  But I do it anyway.  Our town is tiny, the county very rural, and the one exception is if I know both of the people, think they'd both do a good job at something, I might leave it blank.  Sometimes I know the people as patients from the clinic we used to work at.  I've voted for them before based off not much more than I thought they were good folks.

Apps for everything.

I mean, this borders on grumpy territory. But the proximate cause is only a pet peeve.

A few weeks back I needed to get my daughter from school for an appt that due to schedule meant we needed to get lunch. So we went to McDonald's.

The Monopoly game is going on. I pulled my little game piece and it said I'd won a food item... And the only way to redeem it was with the McD's app.

Why? The goal of this game is to keep me coming back to redeem my winnings (and buy more food on top of it). But I'm not going to download your stupid app for a fast food joint I go to maybe once a quarter.

So I just threw it away.

Not everything needs a goddamn app.

Similarly, not everything needs wi-fi access either.

Srsly, a lot of--for example--dishwashers you can buy today want you to connect them to the wi-fi.  They claim to be Smart Dishwashers (or insert product here).  It usually offers virtually no functionality, to the point that I started looking into it, and, sure enough, most of this stuff is just trying to collect data on us.

Why not connect every electronic device from whatever nefarious business/country where it can get a look at our data?  What could possibly go wrong?

ya know, if the apps simply worked properly, I wouldn't mind them much

Cars in the USA should have gas tanks on a uniform side.  None of this some-on-the-left, some-on-the-right.

It creates too many problems at gas stations when the current pumps are full so you have to pull in behind someone and wait.  If my tank is on the left I pull around one way, but people with tanks on the right sometimes pull up the opposite direction, and if their tank is opposite the current pump user, they just allow enough space for that person to drive off.  But they'll still try to pull in from the other direction same time as me.

It's anybody's guess as to whether or not they see me (or someone else) back there waiting, but it leads to some awkwardness.

Or in one case, a guy was parked WAY off and I had no idea he was waiting on the pump of the car in front of me.  Indeed, he was there first, but I would've never guessed he was "in line" for that pump.  When the current user left, I started pulling in, and that car gunned it and met me bumper to bumper where neither of us were at the pump, cursing his head off at me.

Stuff like that wouldn't happen if gas tanks were all on the same side.

Your gas gauge tells you your "side".

I like Costco pumps because they can reach the wrong side easily.

European cars generally have gas on the right. I'm used to it as I've been driving them since 1997.

I remember when my American cars had the gas tank behind the rear license plate.

Mine's on the left.  When I get a rental car, I check this on the fuel gauge ... and then forget it.  I reserved a rental of some sort in Fontainebleau for a few days, could be interesting.  Driving in the country in France is quite enjoyable, in Paris, not so much.  And I'm dropping it off in Paris...

I love driving in the French countryside.

Driving in Paris is approximately 33% less frightening than driving in Sicilian cities but you're also 95% less likely to get your rental car stolen (by the guys that work the front desk at your hotel).
