Regardless of Holtz's foibles, he was a master motivator.

The people with that particular ability are fascinating to me.
There was a funny story when tOSU was playing OJ's USC  team in the '69 Rose Bowl for the National Championship. In the 2nd Qtr Simpson took off for an 80yd TD run. Well at halftime Woody Hayes was livid -  fuming & screaming at the defensive staff I'm paraphrasing "How the hell can one guy go for an 80yd TD run against us?" And Holtz the DB coach chimed in "Well Coach Hayes that's all he needed" evidently Woody stormed out

He took ND from horrible to a NC in like 3 years.

He also showed morals by suspending good starting players in a bowl game...and then going out and winning big without them.
He did that more then once

I always admired him for that

I watched that game but wasn't aware of the halftime story - makes sense

Legend of film, martial arts, and memes.  What a bummer.

It’s funny…I’m not trying to bash Chuck Norris. He seems like a pretty likable guy..I just have no idea how he got so famous.  Even when he was a “star”, I don’t think he was ever really a big star like Stallone or Schwartzaneger (no idea how to spell that).

I’m struggling to think of any of his movies…I can’t name a single one. I vaguely remember some kind of Vietnam centric movie and some kind of cop hero movie.  McClintock, or something similar. Obviously, Walker Texas Ranger, which I’ve never watched. But how often does one of those old flicks come on TV in a regular rotation?

I’d put him in the same category as Van Damme and Steven Segal.

I think because he's this ginger dude who was legit in asian-heavy martial arts.  Plus the fact he was so cheesy and earnest.
Like end a scene with a big smile and a thumbs up-cheesy.....but you couldn't really harp on him too much, because again, he was legit.

There's 100 other guys those memes could have been about, but it was him because of that combination.

I'm a Atari 2600 kid, there were very few games which had celebrity characters with the celebrity's name on the game.

You had Pele's soccer, and Chuck Norris' Superkicks.  Soon after that Bruce Lee had a game.

2600 kid myself. Yars Revenge was a pretty good one back in the day.

Pretty decent port. 2600 was just so limited.

The 0pacman game was really bad. I saw recently where somebody made a home brew game that was a really great port to Pac-Man.
