The US Postal Service has got to go. I ordered a t-shirt from a local joint in Cape Coral (no storefront) and they put it in the mail at the N Fort Myers post office. That's 16 miles from here.
Ybor City is Tampa. God knows where it will head next.
WTF?

Discovered on 6/4/2026 that the group mailbox (serves many houses on the block) at the end of the street of our rental, was knocked over, busted up, and inoperable. We notified the post office and they said it was planned for repair but couldn't give us a date, then said they'd contact us when it was repaired and get us a new key.
Four weeks go by, nothing done to repair it. Then finally around mid-July we drive past and notice it's fixed. No call from the post office of course. A couple days go by and we call them and they say they have a new key for us. We go by to pick it up a couple days later, they can't find the key and ask me to fill out a form to get a new key. The form is like a third sheet of paper and seems like a "ditto" copy from the 70s. It only has 3 lines for name, address, and phone# and they hand me a sharpie looking marker to fill it out. I'm thinking "yeah there's no way this will work" but I go ahead and do it and say, "you have my phone#, so you're going to call when it's ready, right?" The guy looks at me with complete indifference and says, "just ncome back in a week."
So a week later my i s c & a aggie wife calls them and they say they have eyes on the key. So we drive over, wait in a short line, and then they actually have the key! Not one but three copies. We're finally in business and we swing by to drop it at the rent house before our new tenants move in. Figuring it was a formality we test the key on the mailbox. It doesn't work. None of the three keys work. And they don't work on any of the ~30 mailboxes on that block.
That was last Friday, haven't had the time or the energy to follow up with them. But I'm sure the next encounter will embody some new form of postal terror.
