My inducer (exhaust blower) froze on my own furnace at my home last year. I was able to get it to run temporarily by manually spinning it to get it started.

My brother helped me and we just replaced the furnace because:
1) I couldn't find an inducer locally and the order was going to take a few days, and
2) My furnace was 30+ years old anyway, and
3) The motor I found was going to cost $200 and I just decided that it didn't make sense to put $200 into a 30+ year old furnace in an attempt to limp it along for a few more years when it was ultimately going to need replaced anyway, and
4) Unlike the inducer to fix the old one, the new furnace was readily available, and
5) The new one is more efficient so my gas bill dropped.
Yeah, I am about at that point now. I can see a new furnace on the horizon in the next couple of years. However, I am first replacing the hot water heater with a tankless unit. I think that the savings in propane alone, will just about pay for it in a couple of years.

I had a tankless (Bosch) lasted 12 yrs(4 yrs ago) before i would have to put about 300-700 dollars depending what really had to be replaced.I was going to go tankless again but the a-holes just can't help themselves overcharging. It was over 2 grand. From everything I had read(some contractors website) that in the 1st 10 yrs there was statistically 20% chance that some components could go bad.Factoring in my luck and the rising prices(because they can) I went back to a 40 gallon tank. The savings in gas wasn't better than the cost ratio(to me). But N.O.B. you could get a good unit that statisically is very possible then you can save on propane.I know when i was looking them up Navien(Korea) & Rinnai (Japan) were the two highest rated MFGs.Just keep up on recommended maintenance - like descaling the heating coil.Make sure you have valves installed to isolate the unit to do just that.If I recall correct I could have removed the unit by like 3-4 connections and slap a new one in but the price got in the way - good luck

Ok Cleveland area guys. I went through a couple years of HVAC issues, which was incredibly annoying because my house was only 6-7 years old.

I tried out Sals Heating and Cooling, Haberak and Luxury Heating out of Elyria. I had a poor experience with all three of them. I stumbled upon K&K Heating and cooling, who have serviced my house for 4 years now and replaced my entire HVAC system last summer and the difference is shockingly better. I went through enough local big names to know that just stumbling on K&K is a big win.

Every day is still a battle. Neurosurgeon told me 6-8 weeks at minimum before I begin to feel somewhat normal and it sounds like I’ll still battle fatigue for a while after that. Today is 3 weeks exactly so I have a ways to go. Every day brings headaches. They also had to cut through muscle that controls my jaw to get through a tumor on each side of the head so it’s been tough to chew food as well. The final unexpected surprise was they blew a vein in my left arm where they had an IV with a direct line to my heart. My entire arm is black and blew and I can barely grip anything and pain in that arm is waking me up every night.  Needless to say, the seriousness of this is far beyond anything I thought I’d face at this age.

Thanks my man. Luckily, most of my family is in the area. I have family and friends from all over northeast Ohio that have been dropping us off food and being really good to us. Lucky for me, my wife is a surgical nurse for the Cleveland Clinic. My 2nd cousin is a director of nursing in the neurological department at the clinic and I have another 2nd cousin that also works for the clinic. All three of them have ensured I’m well connected. I really dislike doctors and avoided them for years, but I e seen some of the best of the best the last couple months. My Neurosurgeon’s career path would blow your mind. Iowa, UNC, then John Hopkins, then Case then the Clinic.

Good to hear that you are recovering @SuperMario but that does sound like a tough road. We are lucky in Cleveland to have world class medical facilities!

I'm in Medina and I had another furnace issue yesterday (at a rental) the guy who came out to fix it is the grandson of the guy who did Furnace repair for my dad 50+ years ago.

Thanks MB. We are beyond blessed. I’m even more fortunate to have family all around the Clinic so I had connections to some of the most talented neurosurgeons in the world. Here or Dr. Awad in Chicago we’re my two choices. We are certainly blessed how far neurosurgery has come in the last 15 years.
