Anyway, she's like two years behind the curve. About that long ago I posted on this board, asking people to offer opinions on why the conventional wisdom was that Kelly would do so well at LSU. The thought in the general media ethos seemed to be he'd have better players. I noted I had done a quick look (emphasis on "quick") at ND and LSU's recruiting for the past 4-5 years and found ND had recruited as well or better than LSU over that time frame, according to the recruiting services. Not that I didn't believe in him per se, but if that was the reason offered, I was skeptical and I wondered if anyone could change my mind.
This far down the road I feel like my skepticism was justified. ND has improved under Marcus Freeman, and LSU probably has the lower floor I predicted (would never get as bad as the Orgeron years) and also the same ceiling we saw with ND. He won't win a title in BR. He's just not a good situational coach, judging by three years here, and it also appears he may have problems connected with our kids and that he's not that great at hiring staff either.
I think he's a bit of a myth created by ND's lighter schedule and coaching in a legit conference has promoted him past his Threshold of Incompetency.
