So, what is the increased risk to players if they play versus if they do not play?

• Football players on the field are inherently unable to physically distance, wear masks, or do anything to protect themselves from the virus. 
• Football players off the field are not in any sort of "bubble" like you see in the NBA.
• Team sizes make it much more likely than any other sport that someone might "slip through the cracks" and be asymptomatic/presymptomatic and contagious, either due to the infection being recent enough that they don't test positive or due to a false negative test. 
• A single player on the field, due to the heavy player rotations, close proximity to others, and contact, is likely going to become a "superspreader" incident, resulting in dozens of infections caused directly to other players and then significant spread outward from there.

So what is the likelihood that the demands made by PAC12 and Big Ten players contributed to the cancellation of the season?

I spent 32 painful if remunerative years working at a place that emphasized "process" over "results".  It makes me sick to think about it.

To me, it's hand waving, feel good notional aspirational burfle.  I'll stick with hard core metrics myself.
