Excellent article. I knew NU seriously thought about dropping out - all it had to do was look across town at the UC.


Frankly, the Big Ten almost crashed entirely in the 1960's, when most of the schools wanted to go in the Ivy direction.

- btw, we're behind Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State but surprisingly above Michigan


I think the reason we're pretty giddy is that there honestly are minimal expectations in Evanston


Since the postseason has often eluded us, 6 wins and a bowl game are embraced enthusiastically

7 or more victories = icing on the cake


I don't think I could handle being an Alabama fan .... where National Title or Bust is the annual slogan and when u don't achieve it (or, hell, when u suffer any loss), complete and utter misery can set in


Don't get me wrong ... as a Wildcat fan, I've felt devastation many times (for some reason, losing to Nebraska on that POS Hail Mary in 2013 immediately comes to mind lately)

However, I usually get over it pretty quickly because alas, the quest for 6 wins is often still alive and well

I have NU 2nd in the BTW for 2017, but I am not so sure. I might have underrated NU.

I still think that Wisconsin is the best in the West given they have Northwestern at home on Sept. 30th.  The winner of that game will likely go to Indianapolis in December.
