The two teams have squared off twice, going 1-1 against each other.

In 2006 Nevada won the first game by double digits, 31-21.

The following season Northwestern returned the favor; albeit by a slimmer margin, 36-31. 

The home team is undefeated in this series.

3 fun facts to kick off the 2017 season

- NU has the longest current winning streak in the B1G .... at 2 wins :72:

- ESPN favors NU in 10 of 12 regular season games (the exceptions are @ Wiscy and vs. Penn State)

- James Franklin is 0-4 vs. Fitz (lost twice while @ Vandy and twice so far as PSU's coach)

I've got Northwestern as 10-2 also, but it might be some fool's gold, like 2015.

Their non-conference schedule is awful, they miss 2 of the 3 good teams on crossover (no UM or OSU), and they get 2 of their 3 divisional toss up games at home (Iowa and Minnesota, travelling to Nebraska)
They could easily drop those, particularly at Nebraska, but I'm not picking it.

I do think Thorson is getting very overlooked in Barrett and McSorley's shadow.  I think he is a strong #3 QB in the conference, closer to being #2 than to whoever #4 is.  Speight?  Hornibrook?  Blough?
