Anyone see this, hard to tell if he's looking for attention or just that whack

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/antonio-brown-leaves-field-in-middle-of-buccaneers-game-vs-jets-bruce-arians-says-hes-no-longer-a-buc/
craziest ish I've ever seen. Brown has serious mental health issues. Who just quits mid game, on a team that is still in the hunt for the #1 seed in the NFC and trying to repeat as Super Bowl champs?

Crazy stat they announced last night during the Steelers - Browns game.  Ben Roethlisberger has only played in 2 games his entire NFL career where he was already eliminated from the playoffs.

I know some don't care for the guy, but that's an insane stat.

It is insane.

Granted, that has multiple things to unpack.

  • While the QB is a huge part of whether a team makes playoffs, a QB is not the only thing controlling whether a team makes the playoffs. Team quality also makes a difference.
  • Were there any years where the Steelers didn't make the playoffs, but Ben was benched after they were out of contention due to non-injury reasons? If you know you're eliminated in game 16, do you just start your backup to get him experience?

Interestingly, I looked at Brady. A Brady team has only not made the playoffs in 2002 and 2008. In 2008 it was due to a Brady injury; he only played one game. In 2002 he started all 16 games, and the Pats went 9-7. So it's entirely possible that they weren't eliminated at any point during that season (although they won the last game to go from 8-7 to 9-7, so it would be more likely they were eliminated than if they were 9-6 and lost the last one).

So it's possible Brady has never started a game while eliminated from playoff contention. Which is partly an insane and positive stat about Brady, but also partly an insane and positive stat about the Patriots org as a whole, given that they only missed playoffs twice while he was there and one of the two times they played his backup all season.

Brady was in New England 20 seasons. His rookie year was 2000. He didn't play. We all know the story in 2001- Bledsoe goes down- Brady goes in. Rest is history. The only other year in New England he didn't really play was 2008, when he tore his ACL in the first QTR of the 1st game of that season.

So he had basically 18 seasons as the starter in New England. They made the Super Bowl in 9 of those 18 seasons. Basically 50% of his starting years they were a Super Bowl team. That is just f**ng ridiculous.

Chiefs don’t look like they’re playing for much in Denver today. Even with Broncos not blitzing at all in first half. If anything, Vic Fangio has most to gain. If Broncos can finally end KC’s 12 game win streak Vs Broncos it might be the goodwill he needs to convince management to keep his coaching job next year.

So far Drew Lock is doing more damage as a scrambler than passer.

14-10 Broncos up at the Half.

I was just informed of the rather delicious tie scenario tonight.  That may cause me to tune in.
