rewatching the game this morning, Brady Quinn is not good obviously, but Joe Davis is bland

mistakes by the Husker's offense in the 3rd quarter really put them in a bad spot.  Good field position on about the 50 and moving, 2nd and short Martinez takes his eyes off the snap and drops it.  Play looked like it might have been a big gain.  3rd and long, the pass that went to Speilman that he short armed.  Should have been a big play.

next possession, 3rd and short, ball off Ozigno's hands, was a 1st down if he catches it.

small execution mistakes that left them with no points and behind on the scoreboard going into the 4th quarter.  Tough to overcome for a team struggling to win games

Nobody's worse than Gary Danielson - what a nutthugger.I wish he'd blow Saban already and get it over with,prolly waiting on Finebaum to finish.Ya we know The Crimson Tide is good/great but he sounds like a pitchman for the program

sloppy game, but the Bucks cleaned things up in the 2nd half and got the win.

I caught very little of the contest listened to about half of it.Martinez IMO is the real deal,made some freshman mistakes but he'll only get better.At this point I'll take anything in the Win Column

yup, I'm impressed with the kid

just need the trenches on both sides of the ball to be more like OSU

keep winning and the bucks are in the playoff

Ohio State and Nebraska was the most watched football game of Saturday afternoon, according to Bruce Feldman of FOX. The Buckeyes are consistently a TV ratings dominator in college football, and I'm sure a close game and the fascination with the speculation surrounding Urban Meyer drew a few to it. But don't count short what that 'N' on the helmet still means to television viewing.

That's not happening this year nor do I want it too. 
The Bucks have forgotten how to play defense and every game looks like they are only getting worse at it. While Nick Bosa was playing, they at least had 1 D-Lineman that was forcing a double team thereby freeing up a linebacker to make some tackles. But since his departure, even that is gone and the linebackers are playing with a lineman in their face every play. It is almost like they have the DLine playing pass on every play, going after the QB and not even considering the run and the LB's cannot shed blocks.
The DB's can't play press/man coverage but they continue to try, except when backed up to the goal line on a 3rd and 5, then they give a 10 yard cushion basically conceding the first down. Where they afraid that the WR was going to beat them to the concession stand? The DB's look completely lost. I knew it would be tough to replace coach Combs, but I didn't think it would be that bad. 

There is so much wrong with this team that I don't think it is fixable. If by some miracle, they win out and make the playoff, they will get destroyed by whichever team is lucky enough to get that matchup as it will basically be a layup for them to the Nat Title game.

It looked to me like tOSU was bound and determined to work on the run game after getting depantsed by Purdue (Gawd….those backs) and made some progress against our iffy front. That QB though….Tom Brady is embarrassed by his lack of mobility. Very un-Urban.

Having Domann at OLB made a difference, and I was impressed with the OL play. That group has come a long ways. getting rid of Cole Conrad has helped. Still need a legit OT.

Special teams….good ******* God. Muffed a kickoff. Got a punt blocked. Fielded a punt at the 10, let another hit the ground outside the 20 and roll to the four. YGBFKM.

Decisions...we go for it on 4th and 2 on our 10 yardline in the first half, but kick the FG on 4th and goal from the 1 yardline in the 4th. After our QB had scored 2 rushing TDs in short yardage?

Hoss,

Did you check the Wyatt Mazour reverse play?

I thought it looked like a reverse pass back to Martinez.  Play was blown up by the Buck defensive call, corner blitz and d-line slanting hard to their left.  their d-line slants to our right, our O-line whiff on a couple blocks allowing penetration.  Mazour therefore can't continue to his right to find Martinez on the right sideline.  The corner back covering Morgan on the right sides blitzes into the backfield leaving Morgan wide open towards the goal line.  I assume the safety responsible for Morgan saw the reverse action and headed upfield.  

I know the Huskers got a first down on the defense offsides penalty, but if Mazour was tall enough to see over the defense he had two potential receivers in Morgan and Martinez wide open for TD.

Instead they settle for the FG

Just an interesting play call (tricky) that probably should have worked.  If the much improved O-line could have blocked just a little.

I did see it, as I remember rewinding the play to show my daughter how it got blown up...I think it was the C or RG who got beat, and that interior DL got into Mazour's path. The reverse-action is supposed to pull that backside CB inside, then the routing puts the S into a stretch between the QB on the Wheel and Morgan on the Post. Mazour reads him and throws opposite. 

But as with every pass play ever designed...its starts with protection.
