Yeah, our pantry is also close to the fridge, so groceries go on the island and are quickly loaded to each location.

Layout mostly done. Now picking a color scheme. Want to go with a light oak floor and black cabinets with white or light walls. Counter and backsplash still in questions, originally liked a wood counter with a green backsplash, but the designer recommended a taj royale counter with a wood tile backsplash. That looks really good according to ChatGPT.

Thanks. I am on the fence a bit about that empty space in the island. At first I thought it was strange, though I suppose the idea is you store bar stools underneath it. Which makes sense. Some islands have chairs or stools and they are constantly in the way. Also, it makes for space for people to sit across from each other as opposed to everyone in a row. So I think I like it, though I don't think I've seen one in person.
